You can opt out on serious rape & murder cases I think I’m right in saying. You wouldn’t be forced to do that. Someone I chatted to at jury service had done a murder case and was given life long exemption but actually requested being left on the list! He enjoys it.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 1:58 pm True, I’d probably get a serial shoplifter knowing my luck.
I found it fascinating tbh. And they never once said “all rise” when the judge came in. He was very respectful of the jury. Very polite & helpful.

I was in a hotel the other day and at breakfast I said out loud that, "I could murder a bowl of cornflakes.' Suddenly the police swooped in and arrested me on suspicion of being a cereal killer.
Someone might need to explain it to Jaydog.

I don’t eat cornflakes
Re: Manchester City Thread.
Off topic, but thank your lucky stars you don't live in USA (well I speak for California) and being called up for jury service. There's no mandatory pay for sitting on a jury, and many employers in the private sector pay diddly-squat and only civil service pay for the full period of the trial. In my case, I get paid 40 hours and then I get nada. The court pay a $13 a day per diem (hardly buys a sandwich in California). I was called up last August and thankfully was dismissed after 3 days of jury selection (the trial hadn't even begun!) after the defendant changed their plee to guilty for child battery. I was dangerously close to being in the jury pool and having a cross examination to determine my suitability. Everyone person bar a couple of retirees in that jury selection did everything they could to get excused, and I suspect mostly due to financial reasons of not getting paid. The system is truly broken in USA as jurors should not be subjected to financial hardship for being selected.
As for Mendy, without knowing the evidence presented, it would seem it was a case of revenge for one night stands, though I would not excuse his general behaviour. Still, there is a retrial for two counts so perhaps he's not out of the woods yet. Essentially though, his career is done, and I would not be surprised if he takes up a civil lawsuit of some kind if he is acquitted of the remaining charges.

I only watched the second-half of Citeh's comeback victory, but how poor were Spurs?
I thought they were shocking at times Spurs looked more like a pub side, not a team that are 4th in the Premier League.

Citeh have scored three or more in their games ten times this season.

I did too. Saw the score at ahlf time and thought it would be a cracking second half, wasn't disappointed. Mahrez is another player City bought who took time to find his feet for them.
Re: Manchester City Thread.
Love watching Mahrez. Very composed, skilful, intelligent and scores great goals.

Big surprise this one.
I see that young lad Lewis is getting more and more game time for them, presumably Guardiola believes he can cope without Cancelo.

Lewis is a wonderful talent, looked comfortable at ER a month ago.

Been suggested he had an argument with Pep.

A fine & a slap on the wrist for one of the elite six.
Would be a totally different sentence for a club such as Leeds.

I've seen the minutes of the meeting:
Section 7; para 19
We relegate manchester city for breaking ffp rules, but have to also relegate Leeds United as well, just for the pure fun of it.

Some sort of fine, maybe a transfer embargo (not like that will matter with the squad they have) and a slap on the wrist.
Had to laugh when one of the SKY reporters said they could be expelled from the Premier League
