Re: Everton Thread - Dyche appointed
This may surprise some of you..
Ralph Hootentootle was still in his flat in Southampton untill this weekend just gone, it seems he was in talks with Everton about the managers job, and only finally packed up and moved when Dyche got it..
I did the checkout report on his flat this morning....

Called off.
Club apparently rang the organisers and begged them not to as it could put off any potential new signings.

Michy Batshuayi rejects move to Everton. "The Belgium international striker is happy in Turkey at Fenerbahce and was only prepared to consider leaving for a more stable project."

Dyche will get knighted if he gets Everton going with no freshening in of the squad.

No surprise players didn't want to go to Everton after seeing those toxic interactions between players and 'fans' the other week. No way would you want to move your family there.
That said their most important deicision, to change from Lampard to Dyche, may be enough to save them. We may have done the opposite, signed a few players but kept hold of the 1 person most responsible for our poor results.

Jeez i hope you're wrong here, i really want to see them go down and hopefully out the top flight for as long as they were in it.weasel wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:18 pm No surprise players didn't want to go to Everton after seeing those toxic interactions between players and 'fans' the other week. He can try and shore them up but i'm hoping he can't find anything to work with going forward, Bert would've done wonders there, even if they went down, they'd have been mega stronger bouncing back up with him, i'm hoping they've made a huge mistake not doing what Bert wanted - From the ground up he would've re-built them, big mistake.

Interesting that Bielsa would have commited to longer than a simple 1 year deal with Everton and was presumably happy to stay working in this country. Blows smoke up the ar$es of all those, including Orta, who suggested that Bielsa was definitely leaving at the end of the 2021-2022 regardless of whether we stayed up or went down. Would appear, on the face of it, that if he'd stayed with us and we went down that he would have been happy to stick around and bring us back up.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 5:54 am Jeez i hope you're wrong here, i really want to see them go down and hopefully out the top flight for as long as they were in it.

Given how poor Lampard is a manager the fact that thet are just 3 points behind us is a huge concern. Is Dyche as a manager worth 3 more points than Lampard over a season witht he same players? My guess would be yes. Everton I feel have enough players, if they can keep kep players like Calvert-Lewin fit, to be a half decent side. They have a decent keeper and decent defenders, 3 of which Dyche knows really well, so I can see him organising the defence a lot better than Lampard did. Midfield is probably a bit patchy but if they bypass that then it is less of a problem. Calvert-Lewin up front is good enough to score enough goals to give them a chance to stay up and you also have Gray chipping in with a few.
They may not have made the flashy signings but I feel there is enough there for Dyche to work with. Also in some ways the tough initial fixture list may work in his favour as they aren't really expecte to beat Arsenal and Liverpool so it gives him a bit of time to get them used to how he wants them to play. As such they then might be acclimatised by the time the winnable fixtures come around.
They don't have to suddenly become great but last year they were able to beat the likes of Chelsea and Man U at home late on in the season when the pressure was on. That experience could be invaluable too.
Whereas we limped over the line, aided enormously by Burnley losing their last match when it was in their hands. We have added a few players since then but none of them are experienced in fighting relegation. Roca, played for Barce and Munich, all the RB lads have been used to being top of the league in Austria or comfortably upper half with Leipzig, Rutter from a comfortably mid table German side, McKennis from title chasers Juventus, Gnonto fromt itle chasers Zurich. If we get sucked into the relegation places wil our heads go down? Can we scrap our way out of it if our football is ineffective?
Make no bones about it in a couple of weeks we could really be in trouble.
