I think we've seen signs he's heading in that direction the last few games. Let's hope the trend continues. He's a right handful when he's on top of his game.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 8:24 pm Aaronson needs to find his game Paul. Probably the most difficult position to play in our system and imo the most Jesse reliant. One goal ( which he made all on his own to his credit) and two assists is an awful return for 21 games and in fact does not warrant selection imo.

Re: Michael Skubala- Not his fault but . . . . .
His only job is to get players up for the fight. He didn't do that today.....So yea, his fault too.

Re: Michael Skubala- Not his fault but . . . . .
Feel so sorry for him tbh.
He must know deep down He is totally unqualified for this job but could hardly say no.
The difference between us and Everton was night and day
You could tell which one had a seasoned and experienced Premier League manager.
Hopefully when this mess is over Michael can go back to his u21 job.
Has my sympathies but he can't be in charge of anymore games.

Like asking a pit stop mechanic to take over as chief engineer on a F1 car.
You hope car and driver might get through. But then the engine fails, and the driver gets sick, and the wrong tyres are put on...and the pit stop mechanic is just way out of his depth...

I don't have any sympathies for him, nor any blame. He has been given a fantastic opportunity without really deserving it and likely that even if he gets replaced quickly, as manager, here he will likely be able to apply for manager jobs at a lower level. This has raised his profile from a complete nobody to someone that a lower team would take a chance on.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 11:33 pm Feel so sorry for him tbh.

We are what we are as a team - disjointed. We have a central midfield not used to playing the Bielsa way and in McKennie a player not used to the RB way either. We than have mix of some players that can play the Bielsa way and some that don't have a clue how to so inevitable moves break down. We saw some good passing movements but ultimately they came to nothing as we didn't have everyone playing the same way. That isn't the players' fault or Skubala's. What we ideally need is someone like Bielsa or someone of his ilk who can show the non-Bielsa players how to play and fit them in properly, not someone who hasn't really had to ever fit players into a Bielsa-type formation and the intricate fine tuning it needs (rather than just saying 'you're a central midfielder.'
Such a shame Klich has gone because we have no midfielders at the club who know the way to play the type of football that would likely be our best hope. Throw Klich into the mix and him being able to teach the others and we might have had a chance with thing the way they were.

If you are going to take the job at least do the job. If you prefer to let Paddy have a say on how we play, then let him be caretaker player/coach.

Exactly! And Paddy is doing a great job tanking another coach’s career. We need a coach that isn’t their friend. Skubes is out of his depth in that regard.Aussieleeds wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 12:19 am If you are going to take the job at least do the job. I also agree with Weasel that Skubes will likely be able to parlay this into possibly a League 1/League 2 gig and try to work himself up from there.

Re: Michael Skubala- Not his fault but . . . . .
Leeds has been training on nearly a year on a very specific style: an aggressive high press which generates transition goals. It's goof balls to try to turn Leeds into some sort of midblock team that unlocks defense through build up play mid season.
Scooby should of taken the label off of Marsch-ball, tweaked it slightly (maybe a bit more width, but keeping the aggressive press), and slapped a new Scooby label on it. The fans would have convinced themselves it was brand new.
I am also detecting cliques forming now, with fading players Bamford, Harrison, and Ayling trying to influence a weak coach. Hope I am wrong there. Also, rather see a Leeds led by Wober/Adams who are the future (if we don't get relegated).

Skubala and Co are fools for altering attacking football, fools, and who the f**k would listen to barndoor bamford !!!!
A bit a tweaking like against scum twice, why oh why convince yourself, or worse, be convinced by inept players, that you can do better by completely altering the style from attacking to woeful.

Not his fault that he is in the job, but he is at the end of the day. 3 games and yet we've gone backwards not forwards or had any improvement. He needs to push back against the players, rather than be their mate. Especially Bamfraud, who is a joke.

Re: Michael Skubala- Not his fault but . . . . .
Skubala is yet another one totally out of his depth and particularly in this situation. How we've gone from Bielsa to Marsch and now Skubala, is incredible really. The club's PL survival is currently dependent on an U21 futsal coach, that takes some doing. My worry is that the majority of the players, don't have the stomach for a relegation fight. We lack strong leadership on and off the field at the moment. The 36 mil spent on Rutter, should have been used to bring in a proper target man. Bamford is far too weak and not the player you can rely on to lead the line. I noticed (other than Adams), we are far too easily muscled off the ball. Some of the football on display yesterday was appalling, far too many aimless punts upfront and players struggling to do even the basics. We don't seem to have a coherent plan going foward and just stumbling from week to week hoping for the best.

Skubala will soon be needing his U21s to get us out of mire, injuries are piling up and stupid bookings that Adams Mckennie & Gnonto pick up like free sweets is pathetic.

When you take over the responsibility for the first team the buck stops at you. You could see that Everton were well organised and this is down to experience. While the board sit back in a dream land thinking that everything is ok, the reality is that Leeds are in serious trouble as we all know. Our concerns are now real and the board needs to react quickly ( fat chance). So if we don't here nothing in the next days you'll know the board are still denying the fact we need help. Big Sam is not my choice for a permanent manager but he would at least sort out the defence and make us difficult to break down. Rafa is an experienced manager but would he want to work with the clowns in charge. Are we going to pull off the great escape? 15 games to go and 45 point up for grabs. Its now or never Radz

Not the first time we’ve had these rudderless clueless performances.
Not seen the game yet but some of the comments are hard to fathom. Manure away was only 2 games ago. What happened to the fight shown there.
Somebody mentioned Summerville looked “disinterested”. Why? If the players aren’t up for it what chance has a manager got.
Looking like a possible 1 point from February when we needed a minimum of 6

That's what is baffling me, what changed from the games against United to what seem was a terrible weak performance against Everton.Jaydog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 11:04 am Not the first time we’ve had these rudderless clueless performances.

You would have thought the previous 2 games would have given everyone a big lift and had them looking forward to playing a poor Everton side. Did they try to be too smart and change tactics or was it a case of too many players just being crap on the day ?

Re: Michael Skubala- Not his fault but . . . . .
The difference boils down a lot to the opposition. Against MU in the first game we got the 1st minute goal. That meant MU had to attack us, they needed to score twice as a draw would (and was) be a bad result for them. As such it meant more space for us when we got the ball forward and as such we looked good - a bit like how we looked good against other teams that took the game to us.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 11:20 am That's what is baffling me, what changed from the games against United to what seem was a terrible weak performance against Everton.

The second game against MU and with the crowd behind us coupled with MU wanting to win and create from open play and again the game was more open.
Against Everton and their tactics are to spoil the game, not try to play it from the back and through midfield too much, be fairly solid and look to capitalise on a set piece, corner etc. As such it saw limited space for Gnonto, Summerville and Harrison. We also lack the creativity in central midfield. As such it was always going to be an awful game to watch with the first goal being crucial - we get it and Everton have to play a bit more and space opens up for us, they get it and tey double down on their tactics.
I felt before the game that a draw would have been a good result for us. I had us down for 4 points from Everton and Saints so we really need to beat Southampton now.

That's what always happens when a manager gets sacked and usually get the 3 points, like Southampton yesterday, but we didn't obviously.Jaydog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 11:04 am Not the first time we’ve had these rudderless clueless performances.

It's why I said scum away wasn't a good result, many just assumed we'd beat Everton and Southampton.

XG on the Chels v Soton game suggests it was a one sided affair that they were lucky to win.
Didn’t expect to beat Everton. A draw would have been acceptable if we also beat Soton which I still expect us to do
