We lack a creative midfielder

It's been a problem for a long time and one of the downsides of our recruitment prioritising running stats over offensive numbers for our attacking players

It definitely needs addressing.

We don't really have that type of player in the squad so not sure what Gracia can do?

Maybe work on quick passing triangles in the offensive areas ?

Everyone saying Gracia likes a 2nd striker. At times, Aaronson was up beside Bamford. Will be interesting to see what he does when he's had a full week or two on the training ground. Gnonto and Rutter have both played as support strikers.

Pretty chuffed all in all. Even if it was a dross performance against a terrible team.

We've had a hard time winning these games - losing to a few bad teams.

Javi definitely gave us better defensive stability. And he's got us passing the ball to each other rather than trying to give it away in a hurry.

Biggest take away is that he got this result after just one training session. He said post match that the performances will get better. I believe it. He seems like a fantastic coach. A real coach unlike that last charlatan.

The tactical changes 2nd half worked well. And even though we were creatively bad in the 1st half, we looked a lot more potent in the last 30 minutes. Aaronson and Harrison had their best performances for months. McKennie and Rutter looked a lot better late on. And well done to Junior, who's starting to look the part.

I predict that Javi Gracia will be (at minimum) the 2nd best manager we've had in the last 20 years.

Give me a traditional CB any day over a fancy-dan ' ball playing ' defender like Llorente who can't defend for toffee and was swatted out of the way by physical forwards...Funny how since Wober came in we look solid at the back for the first time since promotion...

Wober's got a touch in him or at least better than Cooper and Koch. And he can properly tackle, makes the right decisions. He's the fix we've needed and I think he's raising Koch and Firpo's level as well. Don't get me wrong, there have been 2 or 3 mistakes, but that's over the course of multiple games rather than 30 minutes.

In fairness Southampton are garbage. We should have beaten them at their place. When we were 2 up and Jesse didn't manage to make any tactical changes.
