Can't say I didn't warn them. 5pts from 30.Madron wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 4:58 pm Palaces next 9 matches;

Currently 12th , all these games are against teams above them.. Tough run. Come the end of Mar they could be well and truly in the relegation mix, not that they aren't currently.
On the other side of the coin they have favourable fixtures from now on.

Roy Hodgson reappointed.
There are now no less than 5 former Watford managers in the Premier league.

The way they go through managers, I’m surprised it’s not more.Jimstorrie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 9:58 am Roy Hodgson reappointed.

Re: Palace sack Vieira - Woy is back!
Woy back to steady the ship.
I feel a bit sorry for Viera, when he took over a lot of their players were out of contract and he would have to do a rebuild.
Similar to Leeds in our first season back Palace performed really well last season considering. Then they had the season this time that I expected last season
But a really poor run and he is gone.
It just shows that it doesnt take much for the board to pull the trigger.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. They had a run of fixtures against top half teams and didn't pick up many points. They weren't however getting battered but equally weren't really theatening to win. The reason why I say damned if you do etc is that last year many of our fans were advocating for Barry White to basically follow the same route and try to simply avoid big beatings, however you get into that mindset and then you find it tougher to get wins against teams you'd hope to have a chance against. So Palace avoided the big defeats to the 'big boys' but then also struggled against the 7 to 11th placed sides. We had our terrible run and suffered a few beatings but the only really bad result was the 3-0 loss to Everton, yes we took beatings to City, Liverpool etc but by playing the way we did also saw us picking up a win at West Ham so the goal difference way worse than Palace but the points return better.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 12:15 pm Woy back to steady the ship.

Business decision and that's all, Palace are right to make the change but Hodgson would not be the first guy on my list. No manager is
safe when a results are poor and a premiership side is at risk of being relegated. The black manager card is being used which is insulting
to everyone involved in football. The bottom line is when you doing a poor job the colour of your skin has nothing to do with it.

I agree about the race issue. But culture wars are the thing now arent they?Musicman1965 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 1:55 pm Business decision and that's all, Palace are right to make the change but Hodgson would not be the first guy on my list. No manager is

I think it was wise to brong back Hodgson, he knows the ropes, most of the staff know him.
Very few get impovement this late on in the season when they change managers so any continuity they can find has to be a good thing.
Also Roy will be happy to take a few months wages and move on when needed

Yeah, we had that bad run last time, ironically in season 1 we had that really tough run of fixtures but we did well in part to the fact that we had a settled team and Spurs were managerless, and Liverpool and the two Manchester sides were playing Champions League knock out games, and we benefitted as a result.weasel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 1:41 pm Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Feck me what is it with him and Colin. Let someone younger have a go. That's what Ian Wright will be saying anyway.

Palace haven't won a game in their last nine matches, they have drawn five of those games, though.
