Re: Brighton Thread
Brighton played really well and deserved to win that game. Good footballing side into the bargain.

Re: Brighton Thread
Brighton have just brought in their 6th player.

Re: Brighton Thread
The Birghton manager seems to be doing an excellent job, has taken on from Potter and seemingly made them better. A bit of an unknown too which shows there are decent managers out there.

Seamless handover.
Fair play to the hierarchy at Brighton, they’ve done well there.

Re: Brighton Thread
Hard not to cast a slightly envious glance at Brighton, Brentford & Fulham. Especially Fulham who are basically safe already. Really impressed with them, you could almost forget they are newly promotedBarlow Boy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 10:43 pm Seamless handover.

Re: Brighton Thread
Bit like us season one ... Bad fixture list and a string of injuries net season and they could find themselves where we were last season ....
"Never debate an idiot, they'll only drag you down to their level and they have the advantage of experience"
Re: Brighton Thread
We did the same when newly promoted. Brentford is the club that have out performed for me. Didnt expect that again this season.
Re: Brighton Thread
Hope the Seagulls have got this bashing over West Ham out of their system & turn up at ER punch drunk.

Re: Brighton Thread
I watched some of the highlights last night, I’m hoping it was West Ham who were terrible rather than Brighton exceptional.

Re: Brighton Thread
Brighton have slowly built themselves a stable platform.
Sneered at by many ( including some on of the TSB podcasts which I am a fan of) for just aiming for survival since they promoted after over three decades out of the top flight.
"Just aiming for 40 points" No ambition some said. They have had a negative goal difference since promotion in 2018 when they came up.
Athletic had a piece earlier this season on how they sold their best player and became better. They have a strategic player loan policy which is bearing fruit as they have been able to sell some and integrate others in their side.
Patience seems to be starting to pay off.
Of course there is that glass ceiling in this league but they look set up to see Europa League football at some point.
Done that and kept the fans on board too.
Just shows what happens when you have a strategy, a managerial succession plan and the environment to make it work.
Still beatable of course like any side.
Unfortunately we havent laid a glove on them in 5 games since promotion.

Brighton's recruitment is brilliant.
Re: Brighton Thread
Noticeable that they owe Tony Bloom £400million and he has invested practically £500mil including recently paying off a £70mil loan
Unlikely he will ever ask for it back.
But you don't think of Brighton being a sugar daddy club.

He has more money than he knows what to do with.
The definition of a great owner
Re: Brighton Thread
Been bloody brilliant for Brighton tbf.
A genuine fan whose family have ties to the club.
Taken them from League 1 to fighting for Europe with one of the best recruitment teams in the world.
Top stuff.
Also funded there stadium.
Fair play to him

Re: Brighton Thread
He must be the perfect owner.
Puts his money where his mouth is.
Look at the seamless transition from Potter leaving.
Look at the seamless transition when big players leave.
And as you say the recruitment is undeniably impressive.
Re: Brighton Thread
10 months ago that 19 year old who scored the winner was playing for some club in Paraguay.
2 years ago the 18 year old who hit the bar start of the clip was playing in Ireland.
Brighton paid less than £10mil combined.
It's absolutely ludicrous
How do they do it.

They seem to trust their youngsters more than we do. We just ship them out on loan or leave them on the benchCjay wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 6:56 pm 10 months ago that 19 year old who scored the winner was playing for some club in Paraguay.
