But would anyone else care, and why would you think your boss wouldn't value you over the other guy/gal. Until Koch either sighns a new contract or doesn't the point is redundant.

Then a bloke came along and chopped them down with an axe.

I added the last line.
Look around, leaves are brown, and the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Not really, he knows the system, knows his fellow teammates (that can't be overstated,) and at his best gives opposing defenders a torrid time.. He's had an above average season so far.

No, you don't have to believe all the click bait journalism, there's no way it's more truth than rumour. Remember the old talk sport telephones lines that some paid a fortune for to get told pure rubbish... The back page rumour mill or the click bait is along the same lines

By giving Llorente a new 4 year contract, worth £10m, he has set a precedent. That's the point.

It means if Leeds don't offer at least that amount to whoever else is negotiating a contract, then they are seriously not well thought of.

Since joining Roma in January, Llorente has had 34 minutes of game time, in an inferior league.

I would agree with all that. Just wish he had a bit more pace. For the amount of time he spends in the opposition half, he only has 1 goal, and one assist, which I thought would be a lot more.

Ellandback1 wrote: Fri Mar 31, 2023 3:18 pm Obviously, I'm surmising!

I can't imagine that the better players are happy with

a) Possibly being overlooked by their Country by playing for a club happy just for survival, especially when smaller clubs (half the Prem) but Brentford and Fulham in particular are ripping it up in the top half of the table.

b) Having to Rely on Newcastle beating Burnley last game of last season to stay up, and probably the having to go through the same again this season.

c) Small run down Stadium very much past it's best (when they could play at a nice new shiny stadium in front of 70,000).

d) Unable to attract top talent (giving reasons of lack of investment and ambition as reason).

e) We are a looooong way off European football
Then MAKE Those points when you decide to throw s**t in the first place. Plenty of guesswork No?

Regarding them.

Who in the squad is disappointed we cant attract top talent? If we had better players than them they would be out of a job!!!!.
All the new signings have stepped up at least one level to play at Leeds. How can they be unghappy with that?
PL football instead of bloody Switzerland and Austria or bench warming in the Bungelsiga.. ridulous to think they think the club lacks ambition.

Run down staduim yes but they dont sit in it they play in front of one of the noisest crowds in the country.

The new players cant be disappointed with who was already there as they wouldnt have signed and the older players can hardly be disapointed at the new players because the are all an upgrade on what we had ( Bar Klich who couldnt get minutes)

As for this ambition trope some like to throw around.

Tell you what.

Do some research, go and find me ONE club promoted from the Championship since the Pl began who have now a regular European campaign each season.
The closest you will get is West Ham and Wolves. Citeh of course the outliers due to having a blank cheque to build a squad.
Now go and look at the PL table and tell me their "ambition" is being rewarded.

Brighton have a bloody great system in place with a replacement in line for each player and coaching staff but it took 20 years in the making but somehow I dont think they had to put up with the s**t from their fanbase as they built slowly.
Brentford are one new manager away from finding out just how hard it really is,

Leeds offered Llorente a 3.5 yr contract, .... There's no reason to think it's a precedent, even if true that it's 9-10 Mill..

Ian, you have to read between the lines.

If Leeds can't attract top talent, they won't rise up the table, which will impact better salaries, European football, and better International prospects - therefore affecting the players 8-).

He has enough pace, not everyone runs a 4.35 forty

For what any reason, it is not working. The Premier table tells us this.

Our Stadium is poor when compared to a lot of the Premier League. The fans and the players deserve better.

I'm pleased you're reacting!!!! There's no right or wrong answers, like I said earlier, just opinions). People will make up their own minds whether I'm spouting crap. That's why its a debate. I'm not saying my opinion is any more right than anyone elses.

It would be a boring board if we all thought the same.

As is everyone else, newspapers, journalists etc. If you worked out how many times Fabrizio Romano actually get it right, it's very small, and much of what they say is opinion, or at least they look at the situation, and surmise how it's going to play out.

By offering a squad player a lucrative new long term deal, player are bound to question the clubs ambition.

The fans have, so, why not the players?

Was reading the minutes from the latest supporters meeting and we won’t be getting a new stadium anytime soon. AK said because of our league performance last 2 years it’s basically on hold, could be the same for the next 2-3 years - never going to be a perfect time. And they don’t improve the existing ground because they will knock it down one day - could be 20 years at this rate.

Also said to redevelop west stand they would need a year for finance, then a year to build the top tier over the existing stand, then a further year to build the bottom tier - I get they want to keep the attendance up but if they knock the stand down and do it all in a year they could have far greater attendance the year after and would surely be more cost effective.
