Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Monday 22nd May) Irons hammer final nail in Leeds coffin

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Monday 22nd May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Irons hammer final nail in Leeds coffin

West Ham recovered after falling behind, to thump Leeds all the way back to the Championship - barring a miracle. Lady luck has been in short supply at LS11 this season; that's not to say they don't deserve to be in their present predicament. They have been incompetent, disorganised, unstable, lack composure, and are completely devoid of Northern grit, synonymously associated with our great club, in years gone by.

Leeds started the better, and deservedly took the lead after 17 minutes. Rodrigo latched on to Weston McKennie's long throw, volleying home from 15 yards. They managed to stay ahead for 15 minutes until the inevitable happened. Bowen's deep cross found Declan Rice in acres of space. His first time effort (into the ground) deceived Robles before nestling kindly in the back of the net.

The visitors took the lead with 20 minutes left on the clock. Ing's threaded a delightful ball into Bowen's path, slicing open the Leeds defence. The former Hull man then calmly side footed his effort past Robles' despairing dive. To add insult to to injury, Lanzini added a third in injury time.

Radz puts together rescue bid for Sampdoria, possibly indicating ER exit

Gestio Capital, an asset management fund of which Andrea Radrizzani is a part, have put together a binding rescue bid to save Sampdoria from extinction. Whilst financial oblivion may have suddenly become more of an attractive proposition for the Serie A outfit, their creditors are in full support of the takeover.

The Genoa based outfit face having to start over at the bottom of the Italian football pyramid, unless they can avoid bankruptcy. The consortium have put together an immediate injection of £47.8m (€55million), with more funds prepared for their rebuilding process.

Why does this leave Leeds? Has Radz agreed to sell his remaining shared to the 49ers? Have they reached a revised agreement on the fee; and if so, how long will it all take?

The sale of the club is paramount now.

I would be more inclined to suggest a strategy that all parties can agree so that the club can plan for next season whilst the sale or otherwise is determined.

Marsch changed the training ground from a regimented survival course to a social club and as ayling admitted yesterday the fitness isn’t there anymore, little surprise we can only manage 20 mins performance a game.

I expect once relegation is confirmed we will fairly quickly see a takeover completed and hopefully they haven’t been sat on their hands and a new MD and DOF brought in with them.

Perhaps, I was thinking about attracting a manager coming in.

Some clear strategy needs to be put into place very soon I reckon.
And Radz will be depending on Kinnear even more now with no DOF in the picture

How long will the takeover take? My estimate is it will be concluded less than 24 hours from the start of next season.

And Dan James will be our marquee signing.

Morning EB et all,

As I put in my football WhatsApp Group, if you are planning to listen to the TSB Podcast this morning, have a Frankie Boyle Podcast ready as I find crying tears of laughter make my cornflakes less soggy than tears of pain.

That said if Radz is packing up and moving to Sampdoria, does he need a lift to the airport, I can drop him at the end of the road, it's a nice sunny day so he won't get soaked on the 200yd walk to the airport and I'm not paying a fiver to drop him at the door.

Good luck Radz, thanks for buying the club off of that other Italian idiot, buying the stadium back, bringing Bielsa to the club, which got us into the Prem so for all that I thank you, it's a good bye so lets not bring up all the other bollocks (Orta), lets smile and walk away in different directions.

Bring on the Championship , with our new owners, oh balls their American aren't they ....... we're doomed Mr mannering, we're doomed

Did Ayling really say that?
The team haven’t looked match sharp all season.

Asked why he felt the intensity had slipped, ayling admitted: "I think in years gone past, teams feared us when it comes to a running point of view and our fitness and stuff and I just don't feel like it's there this season”

They're cheap, and desperate. If Radz does it right, he can flip the business in a few years and make a big profit.

Good summary on square ball:

Andrea Radrizzani spending his week trying to buy Sampdoria underlines the problem at Leeds since promotion in 2020. It’s a club that got distracted by a future that now will never exist. The next manager, the next sellable young stars, the next rebuilt stand, the next owners, the next project, the next modern football club: attractions coming soon! Meanwhile nobody in charge paid enough attention to the club they had. Even if Leeds, somehow, get out of this next week, it won’t be enough to bring any of that future back. After playing Spurs it will be time to pick through the wreckage, trying to retrieve the memories the fans deserve to keep, from where they’ve been buried beneath broken promises of a future nobody was asking for. ⬢

Probably as good an explanation as I've heard. Premier league stability was taken for granted.
