Re: An absolute mess
I can remember Ridsdale virtually bankrupting the club, and spending money like confetti at the time, his parting phrase been we lived the dream, especially, the twenty-five knicker a week on the goldfish in the boardroom. The Seth Johnson deal where he wanted 25 grand a week, and Ridsdale offered him 35 grand lol. the Robbie Fowler transfer where Liverpool wanted rid, has he was clearly past his best and Ridsdale stumped up 11 million at the time which took years to pay back, along with Danny Mills.
We now have a situation where not spending enough money has been the problem and cause of our demise, we have gone from Santa Claus to Ebenezer Scrooge over a twenty-year period, and are still up the proverbial creek without a paddle, if you did not laugh you would cry lol.

Re: An absolute mess
Orta even in the championship was an absolute embarrassment, most of his signings been incredibly poor, his success rate is laughable over the period of time he was here and should have been binned a long time ago. Radrizaani came along and steadied the ship for a while after Cellino, but clearly was never going to be the man to push Leeds among the best clubs in the country, he never possessed the finances and football knowledge were never there from day one. Bringing Bielsa to Leeds was the master-stroke, but the financial situation remained very much the same in the background with him keeping his eye very much on the purse strings, instead of been prepared to spend far more to take Leeds to the next level.
We are hoping that whoever the new owners are, will be far less frugal with the money, otherwise we will continue to be up and down like a fiddlers elbow for an indefinite period of time.

Indeed, the divisive narrative has gone on for many years. I recall the Bates era with many fans throwing support behind him until it was too late, all too easily mugged off. Scum like that should have never been allowed anywhere near the club. Radz lost any kudos he had a long time ago. Recruiting that dog s**t Orta to oversee all our recrutiment, was mismanagement at the highest level. Boro fans despised the man and I hope we don't bring in that knobhead in from Norwich.

Agreed Overman. I’m keen on the guy from Middlesbrough. If nothing else, he has experience cleaning up Orta’s sh*te so it won’t come as shock as to what he’s getting himself into. That’s a “like to have” on the resume that becomes a must have when you’re confronted with it. We’d be foolish not to look in his direction. And I suspect given the relative quietness of the 49ers ownership and leadership, both at Leeds and with the 49ers, I doubt the Norwich guy would be someone they’d go for. My two cents…Overman wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 2:24 pm Indeed, the divisive narrative has gone on for many years. Me, perhaps. I supported him longer than most. In the end, glad he's gone.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 6:11 am Let's not forget that there were a couple or so of people on here ( no names mentioned ! ) who were consistently outraged if anybody dared to question Orta and/or Radz since we got promoted. If you criticised the Leeds hierarchy on here then you would get sarcasm and rude comments for your pains, and typically accusations of not supporting the club, or even in my case being accused of being a closet Man U supporter...
I wonder how they feel now ?

Radz behaviour late in the season has been abysmal. Out shopping for another club rather than supporting the one he still has,1964white wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 7:09 am Never trusted Radz's motives from the beginning, but I gave him the benefit of doubt, now he has confirmed my mistrust of the man.
Orta is an aggressive, wreckless businessman.
Kinnear, a snake in the grass.
A combination of the three of them has ruined the progress of our club, we could be setback for years to come, again.

It's true. I supported both for a long time. I'm grateful for their accomplishments. I'm glad Orta has gone now. January was a shocker. As for Radz, grateful for everything he did in bringing stability and premier league football back. But he should have sold last summer. He obviously didn't have the appetite for it any more.

Re: An absolute mess
I don’t know. I look at the spending of nearly 30M pounds on Aaronson and 35M on Rutter. At that price point, we better be getting one of our best players. Instead we got guys that can barely make the bench and are probably only on the bench because of how much we paid for them. There are numerous other examples like these on a smaller scale. I’m convinced that had the money been spent properly on more Premier League ready players, we’d be in a completely different situation. Whether that be with Bielsa or another manager. The failure lies at overspending on all of the wrong players and looking past/thumbing their noses on PL ready players. Not on a lack of spending, per se. That’s my two cents…geronimo wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 1:59 pm I can remember Ridsdale virtually bankrupting the club, and spending money like confetti at the time, his parting phrase been we lived the dream, especially, the twenty-five knicker a week on the goldfish in the boardroom. Oh i beg to differ, i remember a guy that used to be proud to sign off....'The last remaining Orta and Radz fan at LUFC'andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 4:00 pm Me, perhaps. I supported him longer than most. In the end, glad he's gone.
So embarrassed now that he's changed his name via deed poll.
I knew fck all about the clown at Boro, that is until i was at Elland Rd and Sack of shite came on and i watched him intensely coz i'd never heard of him or knew jack about him....I left Elland Rd that evening and whilst driving home, my immediate thought was..
" who in their right fcking minds has brought that heap of shite to the club na, i'll check when i get back"
The rest is history. And from that moment in time i started shouting from the rooftops that Orta needs to go and hasn't a fcking scoobie, Bert then arrived and after the first game v Stoke compounded by the next 2 games, i started shouting from the rooftops..
'Radz is a businessman and knows fck all about football'......' Orta is a fraud and knows fck all about a good footballer'.....and the main one.....' We have found something fcking special in Bert, ffs give him the keys'
I had some respect for Radz coz he was prepared to take us on, that respect has long gone since he didn't have the sense to realise Bert did EVERYTHING for us and not the clown.
He sacked Bert.
He kept the clown.
End of.
If only i could turn back the clock.

Re: An absolute mess- Includes post relegation club statement
The wording is subtlely pushing the blame away from the writers of the statement.
The sentence
The sentence
is very sneakily denying ownership of the failure. It is the use of the word remains instead of remain that totally changes the sentence. Leeds United remains is basically distancing themselves as if Leeds United is something that they aren't part of - whereas if they'd put Leeds United remain in a strong position it is then them saying it as if it is 'we remain in a strong position' and they and the club are one. However, Leeds United remains in a strong position

Good catch, Weasel. Very interesting wording. Am wondering if it was simply something farmed out to a PR firm and thus the word usage. But with Leeds, the possibility of an ulterior agenda always lingers beneath the surface. So who knows?weasel wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 9:20 pm The wording is subtlely pushing the blame away from the writers of the statement.

I feel it is deliberate in the same sneaky way politicians twist things. You start of slow and subtle, rather than say something and get a backlash (i.e. going out and blaming the players whilst not taking any reposibility as owners) but then drip feed the narrative pushing the blame away a little bit more every time. All about PR and spinning it.

We really need to get everything in order quick including back room staff as this side will struggle again most championship teams and I’m worried if they don’t we could be fighting relegation again next season.
