Crossed wires...I meant if that's your opinion of him not the imbecile fans. Anyway, glad we cleared that up , you know I luv ya ! ImageImage

I agree.

But what hasn't helped are people like you.

Mckennie Wouldn't have got anywhere near as much abuse as he has if certain USA fans hadn't attacked our club at every turn.

You know that isn't what I meant lol.

But the amount of young players good enough to go from literally 0 first team football to Premier league is minimal.

For someone like Gyabi 4 managers (including his u21 manager Skubala) didn't use him at all.

Are they all wrong? Maybe.

But they have played senior men's teams in Cup competitions last season and didnt exactly stand out or do well.

Fair point, Cjay, but that's a very small sample, given how shite we are in cups! We won't know for sure about the young crop unless they get regular game time. Maybe they're not good enough, but how they've fared in cup matches, with all the changes that are generally made, doesn't feel like a fair barometer. Neither does them not being picked by a succession of managers all scrabbling for points in a relegation scrap, surely that isn't the time to blood young players?

Anyway, plenty will get a chance next season as the entire first team is getting sold!! ;-)

We laughed at Everton fans giving their own players abuse and other stuff that went on recently. Now we have our own fans doing similar things.
Any attack on players or their families is despicable, regardless of how they performed. If that's how you want to treat other human beings then it says a lot about those particular types of people.

They were all wrong, no doubt about it. For differing reasons .... The latter 3 as they didn't think they had time to bed him in and lacked the bravery or imagination to play him.

Depends on your viewpoint too, if you think that Marsch, Skubala, Gracia and/or Alladyce are/were very good managers then there is a case to be made that 4 good managers didn't play him ....

Except "didn't do well is subjective", there's a big difference walking into a team as a single youngster than a cup side having a lot of kids and changes, I don't think I recall Gyabi having a bad game for us when playing at the top level (if you call a weakened line up against another weakened line up in the league cup top level.. He did relatively well

Last year I got the same challenges regarding Summerville starting when he did he scored four in four and added crucial assists while becoming MOTM here at least twice? He then got dropped for Harrison and really never got a run again.. Footballers need continuity, we've not provided that all season really to anyone. Hence relegation and never really playing as a team

Exactly the point I was trying to make. From the, albeit limited, reports I've read on Gyabi, he is a standout in the U23s. Does that mean he's ready for the first team? Possibly/probably not in a team fighting to avoid relegation, but you'd have to think he will have something to offer in the Championship. But again, he'll need a decent run of games before anyone can call it one way or the other.

The United States government and its various agencies have been using Ukraine as a slush fund for years. It is despicable and I don't support any of it. Politician's of all stripes have gotten rich laundering American Tax Payer money through the corrupt government WE put in place in Ukraine. Our current President and his family are the worst example of the blatant grift.

I think Gyabi should have become a fixture in the side when Marsch turned to Greenwood. Sometimes it boils down to whether a player is willing to follow a managers instructions down to the letter.
Gyabi strikes me as a player who takes risks and tries to make things happen. Personally, I love players who show personality and are brave on the ball. McKennie is this type of player, why it didn’t work for him is the topic of much debate. Personally I think he joined a side that became more and more introverted. Sini and Gnonto were the only other players capable of getting the team playing on the front foot with confidence, one got injured and the other was eventually converted to type.

From needing an eye test after watching a Marsch team we became very beige. Let’s see how McKennie does at his next club. I remember Arsenal fans hating Willian etc. he has looked quality at Fulham this season. Some players do not suit certain teams or the way a manager wants his team to play.

Gyabi must surely be a fixture next season regardless of who takes over.

Spurs

Good

5 throw-ins
2 tackles
2 header passes
1 decent pass

Bad
2 lost possession
1 poor pass
1 poor cross
1 shot off target

Apart from his throw-ins, not much more to offer

3/10

The full piece goes into the greater cultural clash of mindsets. And I would suggest that most English people can't relate to the American Football/Futbol/Soccer mindset at all. We have experienced the game in completely different ways. And we Americans that love the game have had to deal with biases and hate from both inside and outside our own country. So yes, we have grown a bit sensitive. The writers have correctly identified that. And I'm sure that has translated into an exaggerated determination to prove we belong. Which includes overrating our National Team players.

At best our National Team players are good complimentary players at big clubs. But none of them are good enough to carry a very poor Leeds side in the Premier League.

This may or may not make sense to you. But it was much easier for me to be a Leeds United fan before all the Americans came. And it will be much easier for me as a Leeds United fan once all the Americans are gone.

I’m sure Paul and John, among others, could second this, but a common insult hurled at us American “soccer” fans from our fellow Americans is that we are “communists” because we like a “communist sport”. This is obviously born from those isolationists who view European nations to be more socialist than America. This despite the irony of the American professional sports leagues, by their closed market nature, are more closely aligned to socialism, and Football/soccer leagues in Europe being more open/free market-oriented. But as is common throughout this wonderful planet of ours, it’s often hard to confuse certain people with the facts.
