Shoot. That's why I didn't notice it. Sheesh !BlackHillsPaul wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 11:43 pm Shouldn't this be the Summer 23-24 Transfer and squad discussion thread?
I'm checking news constantly through the day. Exciting times.
As manager I think I'd like to see Farke - dunno why.
I hope Paraag and the boys will be able to find a good replacement for Orta, and I wish a handful good players will stay and
that we'll sign a few super players. It would be nice to see what Lewis Bate could do in the first team.

Yeah, I stand corrected. I read that statement too.
Obviously both free to explore their options.
Robles will surely get snapped up by someone.
Forshaw is more questionable given his injury record. Could see plenty of championship teams wanting him as a squad member.
It will be up to the new manager, I guess, to see if he wants to offer them a new contract before someone else does.

I would guess we have offered them both contracts but they haven't signed and are free to look elsewhere but we have offered them the option to keep training with us so that if they don't get better offers they may stay. Would guess an offer to Forshaw would be on a vastly reduced wage and probably also similar with Robles.

I would suggest 'keeping them training' is because no fcker will come for them , but more so - we'll need them coz of all our shite we're gonna be left with after the axe falls.

From the horse's mouth (via a Boro fan to my son) Forshaw would like another year's contract with Leeds. A sensible move I think, even if its just for cover.

Yeah I think he would and I think the club would if they could find a deal that both are happy with.Prisoner37 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 11:52 am From the horse's mouth (via a Boro fan to my son) Forshaw would like another year's contract with Leeds. Keeping Forshaw for another year, perhaps on a pay as you play deal, makes sense. I know there are those who advocate binning all our old championship players, but at least some of that experience would be invaluable if we end up with a very young squad. Players who know what the pressures are in playing for Leeds. Young guns might be fearless, but they could be a couple of iffy performances away from the ire of the crowd, which can destroy confidence etc.

Especially as it looks like we'll lose every senior central midfielder. Klich went in January. Then Adams, Roca, and McKennie. We've got some good youngsters in Gyabi and Gray. Experience of Forshaw would be useful - and probably Dallas.lufc1304 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 7:59 am Keeping Forshaw for another year, perhaps on a pay as you play deal, makes sense. Forshaw is free to explore his options. But you have to think players don't always want to be getting up and moving around all the time. Unless they're getting a big offer - which is unlikely in Forshaw's case.

Re: Summer 23/24 transfer and squad discussion thread.
Stepping back here and assessing the players that we’ve been rumored with, I have a bit of optimism in where we’re headed:
Ryan Manning - instant upgrade at LB. In his prime and won’t cost us anything from a transfer perspective. Irish international
Pierre Kunde - poor man’s Tyler Adams. Physical and has played in leagues slightly better than the Championship. Cameroon international.
Chuba Akpom - leading scorer from this past season in the Championship. In his prime. Not a bad replacement for Rodrigo should he depart as expected. Clear upgrade over Bamford (and could form a nice pairing up front with him or Joffy)
Gustavo Hamer - absolute stud at Coventry and arguably the best midfielder in the Championship. Many attribute Gyokores’s success to him. 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions this past season. When is the last time we’ve seen a central/attacking midfielder with those numbers.
That’s four players that would’ve been starters or at least improvements over many of our substitutes this past season and yet we’ll be competing in the Championship. I’m not going to go out there and count my chickens before they hatch, but we definitely appear to be looking at the right players in the right positions to get us back up. I’m cautiously optimistic…just need to land these signings (and more).

Re: Summer 23/24 transfer and squad discussion thread.
Hamer is am absolute must I hope and Manning seems decent.
Not convinced by Akpom.
Did Carrick just get the best out of him? Find a system he works in?
Or has he turned a corner?
Because he's 28 in October, he's played in some bang average leagues (Greece, Belgium) and before last season his best season was 11 goals.
And his Championship record was roughly 8 goals in 47 games (minute played taken into account).
Very suspicious of players with 1 outstanding season in a sea of meh.

Re: Summer 23/24 transfer and squad discussion thread.
Been some very odd whispers around atm.
Players leaving for basically nothing (Rodrigo).
Us agreeing to loans with very little benefit to us (no loan fees no obligation to buy).
Seemed a bit weird
But Phil Hay said this
People close to Robin Koch have suggested that the defender may leave Leeds on loan this summer, with the German international having 12 months left on his deal. This is where the ‘free departure’ rumours have begun, as following the loan Koch could leave on a free transfer - but the loan club would have to pay Koch’s wages for this season. It’s indicated that if a loan offer is made to Koch Leeds are obliged to accept, resulting in the 26 year old spending his last 12months of his contract away from Leeds and able to walk away at the end of it for free. He cannot simply leave this transfer window on a free transfer and there is no clause for that. (Phil Hay speaking on The Phil Hay show )
"Obliged to accept a loan".
Lots of talk about relegation release clauses but have we actually been putting in clauses allowing our players to leave any way they can if relegated?
Sounds mad but Orta is a moron and Radz said it was impossible we would be relegated
