Coventry City look resigned to losing Viktor Gyökeres this summer following the Sky Blues star striker's confession in an interview with Swedish TV that he "wants to move away".

Swedish TV4's Olof Lundh, one of several journalists who interviewed Gyokeres back in his native Sweden, was spoken to by BBC CWR.

"He told us that when they missed out on the Premier League with Coventry after two really good seasons, that he wants to move away," said Lundh.

"He told us he could have left the club in January but the club wanted him to stay the full season - and he did."

I think Perkins could be better than Gyorkes, I'd certainly have no problems starting him if we lose Rodri and have Bamford off the bench. Perkins with Joffy at 10 would be top Championship quaility

I just don’t think we will be good enough Leon, once we lose the likes of Adams, Wober, Rodrigo etc.

I appreciate Burnley lost plenty of players, but they bought wisely and got Kompany in. I can’t see us doing the same.

That said, in surprising me and keeping the likes of those players I mentioned and it’s game on

How do you know that? We don't know how well the Niners will run us going forward and they've made one intelligent decision so far

Too early to call for me yet, all dependent on which coach we employ & the squad we have come August.

I prefer this general Championshio thread to the Premier League individual clubs thread Leon. Makes more enjoyable reading and I'm more inclined to read this and comment than another club's individual thread.

No one knows if Gyorkes can repeat ...

He's got 40 goals and 17 assists in the last 2 seasons.

More chance of him repeating than Perkins going from second division u21 player to Championship top striker in an instant.

Liam Delap was top scorer in the top level of U21 football few years back with a much better strike rate than Perkins at a higher level.

He's managed 4 goals in 20+ Championship games since.

The step up is huge.
