Daniel Farke pre Birmingham

Post by Cjay »

Farke's here - Gnonto?
Trained well today. Nothing to add to last night's comments. All of my contracted players are in my plans.

Difficulty of managing a squad in a window like this?
Difficult. I don't complain, If it was easy everyone could o this job. After relegation it's normal sometimes there are questions. Players are used to playing at PL level. Learn the lessons of this window. How we create the contracts for the future. My opinions, as a club we have to be in the driving seat. Honest and self-critical about the exit clauses. I know why there are clauses like this. Players need this when they negotiate. In my view: we don;t sign these players if they demand it. Ninety per cent of players demand this.

We should not do this. We are Leeds United. I want players who are fully committed to the full length of their contract without a thought for exit clauses.

In the future, we have to ensure we are always in control of contract

Creating a positive atmosphere in this situation?
Yes. Everyone on the pitch is committed in their white shirts. Names or transfers or salaries are not important. It's just what I see on the training pitch.Players fully committed to our club will play in the games.

Last night, we delivered a highest distance we have covered as a team since 2019. One game in the last four years we have done more.

We can take confidence from the work we did against Cardiff. The players on the pitch were fully committed last night. Not perfect, not happy with the first half. Show this commitment and every supporter is happy.

Our fans want to feel their commitment.

Quickest impact you have had?
I am not sure. My biggest impact is the team is fit and putting a shift in, All the praise goes to the players. We can show them the door, but they must work hard and deliver. Told them there is never a problem with me if you are having a bad day, they are humans, not robots. Normal to have a bad day and mistakes, but I must always see you I've everything and work unbelievably hard.

I like to play football the way I see it. Tidy and accurate in keeping the ball. Always give our everything. Important topic. Not to praise myself, it's up to the players.

Any injured players back or new faces?
We will see. We will only discuss business when it is done. Positive news with Greenwood and Rutter. They joined today. Greenwood may not make it after too long out, but Georgi has a chance.

Assessment of the window so far?
First assessment is we are in a good position. Coming back from being down in both games was mature. Could not have shown anymore last night. Did not allow one chance. Forced to score goals. Spirit is good. Fitness level is good. If we want to be ambitious, we need some quality players for depth and have a few more options.

When senior players are not available, saw it last night, we could struggle in quality, but yes the one thing is wish and not panic and stick to financial reality and rules. Tricky situation

Birmingham?
First win of the season is always important. Can see how much a good result will be for the fans. This will be the toughest opponent we have faced across the past four matches we have had.

On Tyler Adams
He's still at least three weeks away from joining us in teams training. In the final stages of his rehab. I don't expect him to be in mix before the international break. He needs a few weeks. If business happens behind the scenes, that's not for me to comment on.

Goalkeepers
Unbelievably happy. More or less done, Illan is fantastic and proved it in the first game Karl great experience, great lad, came later to us, but unbelievable experience, mature player, homegrown player. Young talent here.

Improve in more or less every other position, but goalkeeper everything is done. Illan started as our number one, but we have great choices

Interesting comment about release clauses. Basically saying that none of these players that have left with release clauses should have been signed in the first place.

A little frustration? I love it.

Absolutely spot on.

And a dig at the previous regime and Kinnear and their "we don't want to be obstructive stepping stone club" attitude

Gnonto can go. He had a couple of really good games when he joined LUFC but has been downhill since. Against Cardiff he was useless
Leeds need a great summer 2026 with outgoings and incoming players

Well said Herr Farke.

Nobody should be in any doubt about what is expected at Leeds United.

For me, if it takes a couple of years to sort the mess out under DF, so be it.

Rutter atleast would give us a bit of a focal point.

1st half vs Cardiff it was noticeable we really struggled at times with no-one to hit and play off or cross the ball to.

Rutter atleast is a big lump with a bit of size about him.

I love his honesty. And he's obviously pretty straight with the players too

Exactly this.
We may just have the right man in who will say it as it is, hopefully the board take note.

Refreshing honesty from DF, I like what he's saying, especially at those players who would only come here with a parachute. I hope he is backed as well as he can be, in the boardroom and on the terraces. This mess is going to take a bit of sorting, and we're not the most patient fanbase in the main!

Daniel is a very humble, courteous and gentle man.

Few & far between these days, especially in the football community.

Good on ya Farke for saying what needed saying. Now the board have to put their money were their mouth is and back him and also show the fans that they do actually care about this club.

Growing on me by the minute.

Now let's give this guy time, we ALL know the situation he is in, it is impossible to expect miracles with the hand he's been dealt.

He's already pissing against the wind re all the injuries, ffs don't be impatient, he is trying to muddle through things the best he can, make do and mend, in fact that's who we are atm....

Makedoandmend United v Birmingham on Saturday, expect a 100% effort display and pray we come away with something.
Not dependent on Google, the www or 'stats' - Just a guy that puts his eyes to full use on the beautiful game :geek: ...That Ayling goal and "You couldn't script it  " - Dirty Leeds B@stard.
Must dash.

I think he's a bit of a softy in that respect so I wouldn't be expecting him to put himself about at all.

Talking sense. It may do more harm than good going back up too soon. I'd rather DF get a settled squad and all this mess sorted out ready to build and push for promotion in 2025.

I know it's not ideal to lose too many players. But I don't want anybody that doesn't want to be here.

Breath of fresh air this fella, really like the bloke.

I actually sit up and listen to what he says, similar to what I did with Bielsa.

Sincerely hope he gets the time to sort this mess out.
