James was superb - always wanted the ball. He is a key outlet for the team. I am not concerned about the miss. If he keeps this up in terms of creating danger for the opposition and driving at goal his assists and goals this season will both be double figures.

Their keeper also pulled off a worldy to prevent him scoring. Great performance from him and we need more of the same . He knows he's capable.

It's not a high bar to climb over tbf. Id also have him over Christiansen and Heck atm even though I thought Heck did a decent job under the circumstances. Probably on a par with Monk atm over recent years, power to add for sure.
Yeah I meant to add that. The bar is low. Like ground level low. That’s actually the first game I’ve seen properly and wasn’t disheartened. Going to be a second half of season side.

I try to find the positives before the negatives and give all a first chance, i'm far from happy we've got American owners, but will still gauge them on what they do and speak openly and honest about them.
Early days for what DF is trying to achieve, but i'm hoping he's got us on the right track, he needs help and time.

I feel some level of positivity after watching the game. Give DF some more time. With the departure of all the "don't wanna be here" players and the addition of 2 or 3 good replacements I think he can get this team to be top half material and then who knows where it may go from there.
I hate VAR but I would have liked to have it today! We can never be satisfied can we?

Crikey a positive post from Cjay. I thought Dan James shows exacrtly what a handful he will be in this division, unlucky with a couple of decent efforts, great ball for the assist and a constant menace. Also great work rate too. Shackleton was busy and lively all night, I think if he gets his full confidence back he could have a great season. I thought Gelhardt too looked to be showing glimpses of what he is about.
Rodon had a decent debut, Easy to see why Farke wanted him and preferred him to Cresswell. Happy with him and Rodon as the first choice pairing with Cresswell next man up.
Good to see Messlier making a decent save. I think throughout the team there is a lack of confidence but there were signs of it returning,
I thought Ayling had a decent game too and pleased he got his goal. We have to live with the fact he will sometimes be unable to get back into a defensive position - if he isn't given the license to get forward he deosn't score. Not many teams have their full backs getting into the position Ayling did for the goal.
The worry at present is the attack. Rutter may as well not have been there, was surprised to see him stay on for the full match. Would love to see him get a goal and see if he is better with confidence. Throw a Gnonto or Sinisterra, or even Summerville into the side though and we should score more - or alternatively if any of them go we hopefully uy someone who can make a difference.
For all the fans who hate VAR and were happy at the thought of us not havign VAR well tonight shows why VAR is needed, it just needs to be done better. A non sending off, a goal and a penalty decision all going against us and you would have thought at least the goal and penalty decision would have gone in our favour.
For me though it is 3 games played and we have been comfortably the better side in 2 of them and at least equal in the other. Okay we haven't got the points but the performances have been encouraging, especially given the disruption around team selection. 2 or 3 key signings, and hopefully we get those now Adams looks to be leaving, and we hopefully turn these performances into points.
You don't win games with no strikers, performances are irrelevant if you don't win games
We currently have two points from a possible nine against three crap sides all the fans will care about is where this club finishes this season
Many fans are prepared to call a spade a spade not listen to the same apologetic drivel that they have heard for years
I would start looking at the league table if I were you it might wake you out of your slumber regarding this club instead of been obsessed by a club like Everton who are streets ahead of us at this moment in time

I do too Bob. There is the nucleus of a side that with a bit of magic dust added could really come alive. It has been 2 excellent performances and 1 okay one.
4 signing so far and it looks like Ampadu and Byram are great signings, Rodon certainly looked decent on first showing and don't know yet with Darlow.
