Re: 6 days and counting - One major signing in.
Spending in this league is a complex issue when income is effectively minimised to paltry TV money, season ticket sales, advertising and match day revenue.
Remember Derby who went for broke - where are they now. If you throw money at the problem, which you are not allowed to spend because of enforced FFP limits the consequences are quite evident.
Southampton and Leicester have raised a lot of money through sales. Their spending has been very modest against incoming money. There is a financial reason for this.
The situation is far more complex than spending what you get in through sales. Those days are well and truly gone.
Look at the Wolves situation - the books have to be balanced at some point and they are now paying the price.

Basically it's all about the ambition of the fans and owners , If we want to be a championship club indefinitely or a yo yo team in the premier League or do we want to be among the games elite again
I want the latter but unfortunately many are happy to see this club plod along forever going nowhere , ultimately it will be down to the owners where we finish up
I certainly don't see them getting us back among the big boys again they may get us up again at some point in time , but that will be that , they simply ain't gonna invest anywhere near the money many people envisaged

The proof will be in the pudding with regards to what they do when we get promoted. It is far too early to claim that their intentions are disingenuous with regards to stadium expansion and increasing revenue. This is the only way of competing at the top table.geronimo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 11:53 am I'm not saying be reckless but under investment which as gone on for years have put us in the position, we are in today

However, you are basing your entire rhetoric on presuming that they are not going to deliver. They have been in charge of the club less than two months. How you draw your conclusions is just melodramatic.
No one knows how the future is going to pan out, although you do your best to put a negative spin on any news. It is not about smelling the coffee, we have all witnessed disappointment after disappointment and broken promises. This may well be the case again, however the simple truth is we just have to wait and see and having a little bit of hope and positivity is better than always assuming the worse.

Think they have to steady the ship first - on and off the pitch
Then kick on with a promotion push.
I’d be ecstatic if they did this in one season though 2 seasons seems more realistic

If the Kamara deal goes through i would think that might be all we get. Would be pleasantly surprised if we got anyone else in this window, unless we sell a player.

We need two fullbacks, a starter on the left side and someone to challenge Ayling, ideally young to grow with the team but a journeyman will do. The championship season is brutal, we’re too thin in the backGreennWhite wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 10:50 am If the Kamara deal goes through i would think that might be all we get. Re: 2 days and counting - How many more signings do we need now?
Even if we hold onto our fantastic front four, I still think we require at least four more signings.
If the rumours are true that we are to release the likes of Gelhardt, Hjelde, Gyabi & Greenwood, does that mean we require another four back-up players on top of the four we already need?
Lots of activity required prior to the window closes!

A box to box Klich type.
A Ampadu backup/competition
A 10 type creative midfielder.
So I'd agree with 4
Would still like a cb to be greedy though
But 4 is a minimum especially with Greenwood gone and Gyabi seemingly possibly to

Dont think there is a hope in hell we would get 4 more players in. I would almost be suspicious if we did

I honestly can’t see another four coming in, maybe a LB and a ‘number 10’ or another CM.

I know, but there are massive holes in our squad.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 8:49 pm I honestly can’t see another four coming in, maybe a LB and a ‘number 10’ or another CM.
Ampadu gets injured & who is capable of replacing him
