I know, but there are massive holes in our squad.

Ampadu gets injured & who is capable of replacing him :dun:

It's what we need though.

Not like we are being greedy asking for a luxury like another striker.

Not getting those positions would be leaving obvious holes and not following through on the whole competitive squad thing Marathe preached

Especially if we then loan out people like Gelhardt, Hjelde etc who for better or worse have been part of the squad

We need a #6 and #8. A #10 would be FANTASTIC! And for all things holy and good can we get a LB in PLEASE???

I just want a transfer window where I'm happy with our options at left back. Feels like we're still trying to replace Ian Harte.

Admittedly back in the day i only played semi-pro and not Championship level, but i played all along the back, i am right footed but had my best games at LB getting forward more than i did at RB and until i was asked to play sweeper i played LB more than anywhere.

You can say you need specialists these days, but sometimes like Byram players can cover both with only a slight weakness, i want to see a LB arrive but if DF has found someone that can operate as both he might be ok till he finds one, and not just buy any old stupid fcker (Firpo) that is : "not as good as we already have" to quote my beloved when he was having a cracking dig at the Clown.

I think it's obvious Ayling isn't like this coz he's never gone over to LB, but Byram, Struik, Shack, Firpo (Lord forbid) Dallas and now Djed Spence and he might feel he's ok.

The only thing throwing all that up in the air, and it's a big thing, is that his wing backs are perhaps most important to him, but it is more of a team effort all-round.

Hjelde isn't good enough, but might come on in the next 15 years.

I don’t disagree at all mate, in terms of what’s needed, but I just don’t see it happening.

Leeds getting four in, in the last two days of the window, it’s just not the way we do things (even though the ownership, DOF(s) have changed etc).

Time will tell, we won’t have much time to wait to find out that is for sure.

I believe we will get 2 players in LB and midfielder

I want 5 players: LB, CB holding midfielder, number 10 and another good forward/goal scorer
Leeds need a great summer 2026 with outgoings and incoming players

We might well just have to make do with what we have now until January. At the moment we are still playing catch up compared to most teams squad wise. I would prefer we wait until January to get in the right players rather than a knee jerk reaction and buy just anyone now.
So far we cant complain about the players we have got in, the club has taken the right approach and taken time to get them, knowing they were the right type of player for Farke`s system.

Similar to you I played a season at left back despite being right footed. I went from being a bit part player to being a regular and getting player of the year. I do think though that it is often down to the individual player though as I felt just as comfortable tackling with my left foor as my right and whilst I was better on the ball with my right foot wouldn't be afraid to cross with my left or clear the ball. Byram's cross for Gnonto to score last week wouldn't have been made if Byram was left footed so there are advantages having a right footer there as it was a lovely ball played in and so inviting for any forward player to simply run onto and divert it goalward.

I don't know enough about Spence as to whether he could play on the left but it wouldn't surprise me to see him start on the left if Byram is unavailable.

I think a lot of our transfer activity has had to be reactionary as to what has been happening. We had a winger lined up but seemingly that was in case of Gnonto and/or Sini left. We had Aarons lined up but it looks like we waited until it looked like Adams was going (to Chelsea) before we could close the deal, who knows maybe we could have done the Aarons deal a couple of weeks earlier if Adams had left a lot earlier. Same with Piroe, maybe he wasn't our first choice option but we couldn't make a move until we got the money from the Adams sale.

I am presuming we have around £7m left to spend at present which is from the money we got for selling Adams minus what we have spent since on Piroe and Spence. Might be one signing and one loan to come in unless we can buy 2 players with the money we have or raise some more by a big sale or simply getting what we can for the likes of Hjelde and others.

You are probably right mate.

Feels like we left it a bit late.

Looks like we have our two cms atleast.

But left back and attacking midfield being ignored.

I’m beginning to think you may have got this right, and I was wrong.

As you say, we have the two additional CM’s already. They know we need a LB, as we have chased them already and we have looked at 10’s already.

It might just happen as you suggested.

Two more signings due today.

Our new board showing how it should be done on limited resources

Got to say that so far I have been very impressed with the board in relation to transfers. It has been clear that we were operating on a budget to basically spend what we brought in but they haven't panicked and flogged players for less than they were worth just to get he money in - like we did last season when selling KP and Raph on the cheap.

They haven't, so far, sold anyone they wanted to keep apart from Adams and it was clear that Adams wanted out and with him being injured it made sense, to me anyway, to cash in on him as it allowed us to spend the money on players we needed more - Adams's departure looks like it has led to us getting Piroe, Spence and the 2 incoming midfielders - for me at present it looks a great trade off (albeit last summer it looked like that to some degree when we brought in a few players with the KP and Raph money).

It appears they have backed the manager fully and let him choose the players he wants which so far looks very sensible.

I know some fans would have liked to have seen a no.10 coming in but I get the impression that Farke is fairly happy with his options there in that one of the many attacking players will be able to play the role. I think having Gnonto, James, Summerville, Sini, Rutter, Piroe, Bamford, Poveda and Gelhardt all competing for just 3 positions (no.9 and 2 wingers) would have been very tricky to manage and keep them all happy. Having those 9 into 4 positions should make it easier to keep players happy and barring a really bad injury crisis we should have more than enough bodies there.

Similarly with the left back spot and whilst signing a quality specialist left back would have been ideal maybe Farke is happy with the options even if it means playing Firpo (the attackign role might suit him) or a right footed player there.

We have done a good job in the transfer market, all things considered.
Could have been better ? of course it could but it also could have been a lot worse. The players we have got in all seem to be decent signings, so far. None of them are being talked about as not been right for the team, they all have got good reviews from most fans. There will always be negative views from some fans but that's football for you.

A box to box Klich type.
A Ampadu backup/competition
A 10 type creative midfielder.

So I'd agree with 4

Would still like a cb to be greedy though

But 4 is a minimum especially with Greenwood gone and Gyabi seemingly possibly to
Kamara signing would be the klich type?
Gruev interview, he plays as a 6 or 8

Ideally I'd still like to see a 10 type midfielder and a left back

But I do think we've done great with the signings so far

Probably still need a No.10 but I wouldn't want to rush that one and we have options in the squad.

Left back you feel could be done on the final day.

A proper left back would be ideal now. But if we dont get one in this transfer window i wouldnt be too worried.
