I think so. The casting director was told to base it on someone who ran like a twat.

But it's not a logical end to a hard fought game. It's a throw of the dice at best.
I am also not for sacrificing the integrity of the game for "entertainment". That to me is a slippery slope. Like the US in the 80s wanting to make the goals bigger so there'd be more goals.
Don't like extra time with first goal wins, then play a replay - like we used to in the good ol days'.

I knew it. At school we all had Red Indian names. There was a weird lad who insisted on being called Geronimo, he was only there a few months then he left for Toxteth or was it Beeston West, I always get those two confused. My Red Indian name though was 'Runs Like A Twat.'
Happy Days!
What a great show that was, filmed in front of a live studio audience too.

I'll assume you are taking about Jesse Marsh? If so you are completely missing my point Mental. This has nothing to do with him or Danial Farke who so far has been fantastic. It's must my curiosity about the mentality of people that can't be bothered with actually WINNING things.mentalcase wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 3:05 pm Give Farke a chance and he might just win the championship as well, if we go up through play offs I don't give a damn, especially after what we've been through with player revolt and contracts.
Have you looked at marshmellows record in his cup games btw, if not, I recommend you do, makes interesting reading, just saying like.

Yes, in the American sports tradition we use a playoff system TO DETERMINE A CHAMPION. Which is very controversial in MLS by the way. Most Football/Futbol/Soccer fans hate the playoff system. Which is the why the Supporters Groups established a separate trophy called the Supporters Shield. It is awarded to the team with the most points during the regular season. And with that a spot in the CONCACAF Champion's Cup. It's not perfect as we don't play a home and away schedule where each team plays each other. But it does recognize regular season excellence.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 3:20 pm To be honest isn't the play-offs system more american than british? Matters little to win their conference league it is just to qualify for the play-offs to win the superbowl, world series etc. Baseball espeically if you win 6 and lose 4 in every ten games it is seen as a good season.
Like you though I was glad we went up as champions, you want to be the best no matter what division. The champions league to me is just a joke now when you can qualify by finishing 4th. Should just be changed to 'top of the league and thereabouts cup.'
Winning for me is everything. I will throw in a story as I know Jaydog sits by his computer all day just waiting for one.
At secondary school and in my first year we did a cross country run, about a mile with uphills and downhills. I'd never done one before and had no idea of tactics etc.I just ran fast, got to the front and stayed there and won. All the talk though was about another lad who hadn't been in the race and how fast he was. 2nd race and I lost to him by about 4 seconds. 3rd race, and still in my first year at secondary and I was determined to win. I smashed the school record despite me being in my first year and other people in the past running it being 4 year older than I was.
I won every race after that but never ran it faster.
Hope you liked that one Jaydog.
In the English Football League Championship the Winner is determined through the regular season. Period. The promotion playoff is a separate thing. You don't win a trophy for making the playoff and earning promotion to the next level. And yet most supporters seem to care more about promotion than actually winning a trophy.

You do actually get a trophy for winning in the play-offs which is bizarrer cos it means a team finishing 3rd-6th gets a trophy whereas the team that goes up in 2nd place doesn't.BlackHillsPaul wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:12 pm Yes, in the American sports tradition we use a playoff system TO DETERMINE A CHAMPION. The pressure was relentless but the only pleasure I got from the game was when Roy "dead eye" Keane put on his dead goldfish stare, and Nicky "slap head" Butt nearly choked himself when Salford failed to score their penalties

Fail as a manager become a part owner in Salford seems to be the crack.
