If we keep Sini, it’s an 8.5/10. Otherwise, it’s a 7/10….better, but the sting has been taken off.
If we keep Sini and add an LB and 10, well then 10/10. As AJS said, we’ll know more tomorrow….TBD

Re: Rate the Window
On paper I would say 9 so far.
I think a lot of panic set in about our numbers with 17 players leaving. But the reality is quite a bit different even before we signed players. Out of those 17 we lost Forshaw that played a few times last year but we couldn't really count him as a squad memeber giving the amount of time he was out injured. We also saw Tyler Roberts leave but he'd been out on loan anyway and McKistry and McCalmont weren't anywhere near the first team. Llorente had been out on loan anyway, with Wober brought in to replace him and Sonny Perkins didn't really seem part of the first team plans so straightaway that 17 is down to 11. You then add Gelhardt, Shackleton, James, Poveda, Drameh, Hjelde and Cresswell returning and the squad was only actually reduced by 4 players despite the seemingly endless stream of departures.
For me although we had a reasonably small squad last season it was the lack of quality rather than quantity that was the problem. Aaronsen was useless, same for McKennie. Others wer poor. Out of the 17 to leave I would say only Adams, Wober, Koch and Rodrigo would have been worth keepng albeit not too fussed over any of those 4 going.
So from a starting position of the squad being down 4 players, despite losing 17, we were also only down 4 players that would likely have been starters. We are now at a position where we have actually bolstered the squad by 4 players. We also seem to have signed well. I think Byram gets into last season's team at left or right back, Spence too as does Ampadu. Piroe would likely also be a starter and the two midfielders signed would likley either be starters or at the very least getting a few matches. Rodon seems as good as Koch so realistically of our 8 signings I think 5 or 6 would probably have been starters in the first team last season. So for me despite losing so many players we are stronger than we were last season. We still have weaknesses but are stronger than we were. Quite remarkable given how many supposed premier league players left us.

It's been the best one in many a year.
8.5
Shine would be taken of slightly if we lose one of Sini, Willy or Jimmy. Lose two and it drops even more.

Re: Rate the Window
If you look at all the player going out, who would realistically improve the squad? Rodrigo. With Piroe signing, I'm not saying he's better, but he's a different style of striker and might do better. Ampadu feels like a better player for the system than Adams, although Adams would no doubt improved the squad. You could argue Harrison, Wober and Koch too. But you look at the players we have in those positions and it feels marginal.
You look at the players we have signed, the youngsters we have promotes and the loans we have had come back - other than left back there's competition for places. Squad players like Poveda offer something different, you can imagine a tactical sub of Poveda for Gnonto.
If we keep everybody (except for maybe loaning somebody like Gyabi out) and we sign a left back 9/10.

Piroe isn't a loan, we bought him didn't we?

Re: Rate the Window
It has just recently come to light that Mystic Meg of lottery fame really could see into the future and she foresaw and detailed the players who would be playing for Leeds once they were relegated to the Championship.
She used the Kabbalah to predict the future. Here is a more detailed interpretation of the Kabbalah numbers of the individual players:
Ethan Ampadu (16): The number 16 is associated with new beginnings and change. This suggests that Ampadu will be a key player in the team's transformation.
Karl Darlow (21): The number 21 is associated with partnership and cooperation. This suggests that Darlow will be a reliable goalkeeper who can work well with the defense.
Joe Rodon (24): The number 24 is associated with security and stability. This suggests that Rodon will be a solid defender who can provide a sense of calmness to the team.
Joel Piroe (13): The number 13 is associated with creativity and imagination. This suggests that Piroe will be a dangerous attacking player who can create chances for his teammates.
Djed Spence (20): The number 20 is associated with change and transformation. This suggests that Spence will be a versatile player who can play in multiple positions.
Ilia Gruev (10): The number 10 is associated with leadership and inspiration. This suggests that Gruev will be a key player in the team's attack.
Glen Kamara (19): The number 19 is associated with mystery and intuition. This suggests that Kamara will be a creative midfielder who can make unexpected plays.
Sam Byram (23): The number 23 is associated with adventure and exploration. This suggests that Byram will be a fullback who is always looking to get forward.
However knowing that all flat capped, whippet loving, ale swilling yorkshiremen will have no truck with airy fairy mysticism, I fear that their natural predilection towards pessimism will dismiss Mystic Meg for the charlaton that she is.

Blooming fantastic window given the time restraints.
Gruev seems a bit last minute . com, but the signings seem measured and considered on how they will fit, not based on some running algorithm or an Orta foreign special.

3/10
business done far far far too late, still no LB, signings in centre mid are questionable at best
ampadu and piroe look like good signings
lost a lot of players because of the unwise loan release clauses they had
unable to convince several players to join (aarons, german cm guy)
piroe not on loan btw, think you meant to put it on rondon

That can't be blamed on the 49ers, that is down to Radz piss balling about with the sale, he only made plans for the sale if we stayed in the Prem, it all had to be renegotiated on relegation.danhirons wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 7:35 am 3/10

We had an exodus of players leaving without any power over them. (good riddance to them)
The 49ers have done a pretty good job, it's not perfect but it is a statement of intent.
Hopefully we keep hold of our assets and bring in a solid natural LB.
And Geronimo isn't on here complaining about the 49ers so summat must be working.

Re: Rate the Window
while I agree, to a certain extent, there was no reason why piroe, kamara etc. could not have been signed before the start of the season... the 49ers had plenty of time during the delay to make plans to hit the transfermarkt as soon as they took full control - obviously there would have been some rush/a lack of time before the season due to all the issues, but it was still possible...BradWhite wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 8:29 am That can't be blamed on the 49ers, that is down to Radz piss balling about with the sale, he only made plans for the sale if we stayed in the Prem, it all had to be renegotiated on relegation.

I agree the signings are a statement of intent - and good to see money being spent but we're already 7 points off top of the table - largely imo due to the delay in signings as we've had a fairly easy start to the season in terms of opposition we've faced

other than that 9/10 for me just for getting shut of forshaw and roberts, would have been 10/10 if we'd managed to get shut of bamford and costa as well !!

FFP with players leaving for peanuts or loan means we had no money to balance the books, Adams sale has allowed us to spend.danhirons wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:54 am while I agree, to a certain extent, there was no reason why piroe, kamara etc. could not have been signed before the start of the season... the 49ers had plenty of time during the delay to make plans to hit the transfermarkt as soon as they took full control - obviously there would have been some rush/a lack of time before the season due to all the issues, but it was still possible...

Burnley had a slow start then pissed the league.
We need to hang on to Summerville, Gnonto and Sini, but i'm hearing bits are coming in for all 3.

Re: Rate the Window
A 9 atm for me as well if we can hold onto Jimmy, Willi & Sini. The LB still worries me, I think with a couple of injuries, the ball boys all having Covid, the tea ladies on holiday, the groundsmen on strike etc we may have to rely on Firpo. Apart from that I think Farke & team have done a remarkable job in a short space of time & limited budget. DF reminds me of someone when he’s not in a job he will be planning ahead so he can go straight in to his next job & say “ OK I want X Y & Z & if you can get me A B & C I’ll take them too.mentalcase wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 12:14 pm We still need a LB

Sticking to my 9 too. Felt optimistic after the window last year but all the signings last season were speculative signings with none really having the experience of playing in the Prem. THis season seems a lot more sensible, signing some players that are proven at this level and above.

Re: Rate the Window
Window now closed.
I will give it an 8/10. I think the 49ers did a pretty good job to be honest. Better than I expected. They clearly had a hand tied behind their back with the idiotic contract situations. But they have left Daniel Farke a talented Championship squad with depth at every position other than LB. I trust DF to make something out of all this.
Sucks to lose Sinisterra late but at least we got a replacement in the deal. Jaidon Anthony scored 8 goals in 40+ games in the Championship when AFCB got promoted two years ago. Then he struggled in the Prem. We are looking at him as a DEPTH piece. Not bad in my view.
I'm happy that Farke can now concentrate on football. I'm excited for the season.
