Playoffs? Noooo!

Hate the bloody things. Unless I’m watching us not in them.

We must have one of the worst records in the playoffs.

Having said all that, if we are bottom half come the new year then, yes, I’d have to take it.

Re Rutter, it will take a while for Farke to work out his best attacking line up. I guess he will want some kind of flexibility depending on the opposition and/or circumstances.

I would be very disappointed if we didn't finish in the top 6 so on that basis would turn down a guaranteed play-off spot as we should achieve that at the very least, hopefully automatic.

There is certainly nothing to be scared off. Southampton and Leicester appear to be the favourites but Leicester lost to Hull and Southampton got stuffed 5-0 by Sunderland and have beneftted immensely from late goals - they could easily have been below us.

As for the rest of the division seems like any team is capable of beating any other. Ipswich have done well but I thought they were lucky to beat QPR and we also showed how ordinary they were - they are simply well organised haveing got a settled side.

We have played 5 matches. Dominated 3 (Cardiff, WBA and Sheff Wed) and been at least equal in the other 2 (Birmingham and Ipswich). We have done this despite only having Messlier, Ayling, Gnonto, Sinisterra and Summervilles as players that featured for us last season. Given that Messlier was dropped at the end of last season and Gnonto and Summerville weren't regulars, then throw in the upheavel with SIni and Gnonto not playing, Summerville being injured, a new manager and new players not used to playing with each other and the performances have been pretty remarkable. The points we have gained haven't matched the performances but there is no reason for that not to improve and there is no reason at all why the team won't get better as they get used to each other and the tactics. We also have 4 more players to yet make their full debuts that Farke can now use to get his line-up more how he wants it to be. When those 4 are in the mix too we won't only have a strong first team but a very strong bench too.

These loan contracts just get better. So basically, if Roma was destined for relegation and we are heading for promotion, the loanee can just have a sulk, say they don’t want to stay at Roma and provided Roma doesn’t put up a fight, we are obliged to take them back and pay their wages immediately even if we don’t want them back.

Loaning players to other football clubs can be a more financially prudent strategy than selling them, especially in the context of Financial Fair Play regulations.

This approach allows clubs to preserve asset value, spread wage costs, develop players, mitigate risk, and maintain FFP compliance.

While selling players might provide short-term financial gains, loaning them out often proves to be a more sustainable and strategic choice for football clubs looking to balance their books and secure long-term success. Just look at the multitude of loans Chelsea makes. Conor Gallagher spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Crystal Palace, scoring eight goals in 39 games, and now he is a regular in the first team.

So although we may think that loan clauses are foolish, it may have been an expedient and fiscally wise thing to do for the 49ers... and we ourselves have made some good deals on the loan market. What is good for the goose is good for the gander... if the top teams do it why shouldn't we?

If that is the case, the player(s) have far too much power.

In 2018 Wasps ruby union had a stance whereby players put clauses in their contracts stating that
" unless the training facilities improved, they would be allowed to leave"
Of course it wasn't only about training facilities, this was only the tip of the iceberg so to speak, there was an awful lot more going on around that time at Wasps, the changing of arenas, no electric, shared shower room with the public (yep, it's true) cars getting broken into while away at training, etc etc.
Players not getting image right payments was another thing, so players refused to do corporate appearances.
I don't know the full extent of these things but, the owner was owed roughly £20M by wasps' controlling company, which was £56M in debt.

My pleasure, I did post but then realized I'd get a s**t load of responses I'd feel obliged to answer because that's my nature. My post in the end did the job of presenting my standpoint without actually saying anything

No it didn’t! Because you haven’t actually said anything, I, for one, have no idea which topic you have a standpoint on let alone what that standpoint actually is.

So would you accept second ? No trophy for coming second, but you do get promoted.
Getting promoted is the main priority, regardless of how its achieved. If we have to do that by the play-offs then i think most Leeds fans would accept that.

If Mourinho is not happy, it’s on him and his recruitment team. From a Leeds standpoint, hope both players kick on and we eventually sell them for a decent return.

Those loan contract terms suggest the contracts are very porous.

Struggle to see us making top two. There is too much to sort and bottom out, on and off the pitch. Would take a playoff spot in that context. Set solid foundations this season and get promoted year 2 is my reality bite at the moment. Not that any fan cares about reality 😀
