Cooper looked all over the place when he first came on but that tackle he made right near the end was outstanding.

I hadn't noticed that, Malcolm. But DF is very much part of the squad--shoulders every responsibility. Class!

So, am I right in saying we cant challenge Rodon's red card, but we can challenge the length of suspension if its overly harsh?

Maybe Coops back as skipper for Saturday to replace Rodon and Cresswell at right back? So back 4 for Watford - Cresswell, Struijk, Cooper, Byrum....dunno?
Would like to start seeing more of Kamara and Gruev - see what 'material we have to work with'!

Only saw the second half so happy enough with the point. Glaring miss by Hull & some last ditch defending but would prob have taken a point before the game never mind having 10 men for 1/2 hr. Need to start putting points on the board at ER.

They had 0 shots on target! It's a good point under the circumstances and we are a team in transition. I don't expect us to p155 the league: just to be thereabouts come the end of the season...

Yeah - he's getting old - takes a while to remember what you're supposed to be doing :-D . But he still plays for the shirt.
But I do think we're at the point we can't afford to have both the old men (Coops and Ayling) in the starting 11 - we have better options.

Preston and Ipswich have neither one played anybody higher than 7th in the standings. We'll have a lot clearer picture by the end of October, Preston has: Leicester, Ipswich, Millwall, Southampton, and Hull in Oct while Ipswich has it a bit easier with just Hull and Preston as difficult tilts. I expect Leicester to be around the top all season, but their only loss so far was to the Hull team we just took a point off of with 10 men. There is plenty of time for us to claw our way up there.

Good points all around, KC. Still early days especially given the turmoil of preseason.

We need to start winning games.

You can only throw away so many and the top 2 this season so far are doing better than normal.

Sheffield United had 14 this time last season Preston have 19

I'm not unhappy with our current position - still plenty of games to go. And this season, there aren't any teams that we should fear; I feel that we have a good chance against any team in this division.

Yes but look at the bigger picture.
At the start of the season we needed to stop letting goals in and build some resilience in defense. Then we needed to start finding players who could score some.

We've done both those things and this pattern will lead to winning more games. Its like playing in a world cup - it's no use starting on fire and then losing momentum at the end. 39 games to play and 117 pints up for grabs.
This team is going to start scoring more goals, and as long as we remain resilient in defense - like the last 2 games - we will win the games we need to.

Missed the Rutter chance, just seen it - very poor to loose balance with a shoddy touch before trying to finish.
