Football has moved on at a rate of knots in terms of player price, much the same as crazy house prices.
You do far more analysis than I would ever do so what I’d like to know is what do McKenna & Maresca possess that Farke (possibly) doesn’t.
Does Maresca have a vastly better squad than us? McKenna definitely doesn’t.
Winning 12 out of 13 is a bit special. Fair play.
If they’re lucky then as the saying goes I’d rather be lucky than good.
As you say McKenna definitely doesn't and is putting Farke and every other manager in the league to shame with the job he is doing.

Is Leicester's squad 14 points better than ours after just 13 games? I don't think so?

They may have the edge but that should see us a few points back not 14.

They are both very consistent which we aren't, players playing in the correct positions, tactics very similar both home and away, a slight change maybe but it's minimal.

We aren't doing those things, Farke has got a thing about certain players playing in strange positions. His tactics away from home are wildly different from at home which has been taken advantage of multiple times because Farke doesn't even change the player to suit the tactics.

Southampton overloaded our midfield with Piroe not tracking the 3rd man, Stoke did the same thing and by sitting back he's asking Gray to defend far more than he should.

The biggest criticism is I bet you could ask a Leicester fan to describe Marseca's style of play, Ipswich fans definitely could McKenna.

What's Farke's? Does he want to be the pressing Gegenpressing budget Klopp he was in his Norwich promotion seasons? Or is he this counter attacking passive manager he was during the 2nd relegation?

He's got stuck in the middle and wildly switches from one to the next which doesn't seem to benefit anyone and leaves us reliant on moments and individuals.

He's shoehorning players into roles they don't suit and then his tactics are making it even harder for them.

Maresca on the other hand has full backs at full back. Natural central midfielders, 2 able to hold or 2 able to go forward, flexible, 2 wingers and a striker. Just players where they should be.

Thomas Christensen came in after a summer takeover, lost the top scorer late in August.

Had this
Wiedwald
Pennington
Ayling
Cooper
Berardi
O'Kane
Phillips
Roofe
Hernandez
Alioski
Wood

Anita
Sacko
Shaughnessy
Green
Saiz
Klich
Ekuban

As his squad first game and still managed more points, more goals, more wins fewer conceded in his first 13 league games than Farke has.

And implemented a discernable style of play.

Georgi Rutter cost more than that whole squad
Wasn't Weidwald a TC buy though his "sweeper/keeper" and he ditched Klich as MK called him out, correctly... Christiansen was junk who got lucky for a while.

Jesus Christ, grow up Cjay with your pathetic comparisons.

We're actually in the here and now ffs, what you after another manager-go-round ?

Meslier = Only just good enough when not under immense pressure and only a certain style suits him.
Ayling - Aging, currently trying a 17yo
Rodon - Unproven, possible Spurs reject, trying to come of age still, and not even ours.
Pascal - No confidence in him for the higher Prem level, only just looking ok for the Championship
Byram - Probably not good enough for the Prem

Ampadu - Very steady in the Championship, but that might be his level, possibly a Chelsea reject.
Kamara - Not seen enough, but not setting the world on fire, is he just Championship level

James - Didn't impress at Fulham, Scum reject, Prem might be too much for him, work in progress for how long, and has a lot to learn.
Piroe - Hasn't found his proper place yet
Willy - Still unknown what you're gonna get from him, always strikes me as a loose cannon type, individual or team player ?
Summerville - Probably more and better to come, but still learning
Anthony - Not our player

Rutter = Looking like he has some quality about him

And still loads of the 'old brigade making up the numbers

Have you ever played the game Cjay at all ? Do you know a good footballer when you see one ?

As opposed to wasting our best chance of promotion with a manager who isn't upto it? Farke is getting an extremely easy ride.

I know that Farke has a much better squad than Christensen had but is getting less out of it

Consensus is we have the 2nd best squad in the league after Leicester (that is what other opposition fans say).

Don't think he got lucky, think he got worked out and was to inexperienced to change.

Klich was odd.

But he got the most out of that group for a good while.

Klich wasn't odd. He said TC spent more time trying to look good than coaching the team and he was right, hence an unfit and undisciplined team come the new year.. He was worse than Marsch...

According to this forum, we have a keeper who we all wanted sold in the summer, two FBs (one too old, the other too injury-prone), a Spurs reject and a Belgian airhead as CBs; a kid who hasn't done his A Levels yet, a Ranger reject and a Chelsea reject in midfield; a Welsh lad who can only run, a Dutch lad who has a bad attitude, a similar Italian lad, one who we paid too much for, and another who's a fraud but we should be top 2 and it's all DF's fault. Jesus, we love a moan on this forum!!!

f**k sake, have some patience, people, we'll get there. Or we won't. I've been a Leeds fan for 45 years, and for most of that, we've been bang average bordering on shite. We are not a footballing powerhouse, nor do we have a divine right to win anything. The sooner that is grasped, the easier the ride.

Ah, i hadn't seen you'd already asked him, is this what you want Cjay already ? Another manager sacked ?

You're like a child ffs, toys out the pram, what makes you think a midfield 3 of Gray Kamara, Ampadu will be enough away from home, coz i myself have seen sweet fa that they're up to that, especially with the 3 you've got in front of them.

It looks pretty on paper, that's about it.

Spot on, ffs we had all of this for feckin years and years and feckin years until Bert arrived, in him we found a world class coach to slowly build us up and the feckers wanted him sacked !

All sat in their houses staring at the tiny incy wincy pictures on their walls.

Maybe it's the younger element of the fan base, Kenny, instant gratification and all that, but some expectation management is needed. Of course we all want our team to do well, be at the top table, challenge for honours etc etc, but the harsh reality is that only a few manage to do that on a consistent basis and, for whatever reason, we've never been one of those clubs. I'm cool with that, all I want is a well run club, a manager who knows what he's doing and players who play for the shirt. It's early days, but I believe we have that in the current set-up and things will get better, but patience is required and that seems to be in short supply.

Well, when you put it that way, LUFC

But seriously, it is a valid point. I'm not saying by any stretch that DF has made all the right choices or tactical decisions--he has made errors and will make more, but that's the nature of the game. Higher caliber players can often paper over some of those cracks for even the best managers. Additionally, it does feel like DF is still learning the players as individuals and as a team, Gruev and Anthony getting their first starts in match #13 of the season being the most recent example of how far behind the curve the summer shenanigans, injuries, etc. have put him. I realize other teams have dealt with some of the same, including relegation in Leicester's case, but the change in ownership, and it's delay, had a pretty substantial ripple effect. Not to make excuses for him, as it seems in several instances we should have picked up wins when we didn't, but these seem to be facts.

Yes, they need to open their eyes and go through our current squad and how many could cut it in the Prem, he is still building and trying to get a settled side, it doesn't happen over weeks, it happens over months, and unless you've got a total feckin turnip you've got to see the bigger picture of what he's dealing with, trying what he tried with the changes backfired on him, now i'm sure he's well aware of that from his comments of 'you can't win over a season with 11 players'

So he and we have just found out how light we are, and it doesn't seem we have a squad good enough to start meddling/tinkering around yet, we don't seem to have any shirkers and the only player that seems a whining whinging fcker is Gnonto.

Don't forget every single team now seems to have these tablets and technology where i suppose they have the likes of Cjay geeks pumping in all kind of stats to spew out where the opponent teams are weak and could be exposed.

And we currently have a good few players and areas of concern, which only better players will improve, but until we get them ?

I am not overjoyed with the way we're playing atm coz i'm an all out - attack attack attack man, but you'll get caught defensively with that, so i see the bigger picture of what he's trying to do, i can also see what he needs.

He is conservatively going for wins, you'd think they'd be happy with that after all the bawling and scrikeing they've done about our defence.

And please don't forget Cjay is very much an 'hindsight man' everything seems to be shouted from the rooftops in that wonderful thing called 'hindsight'

We ALL know now that in 'hindsight' that team was wrong the other night, but what if fcking pillock brains puts the penalty away and we go on to get another and win 0-2 ? He's then a feckin genius who called it spot on.

So there's an argument that he got it right but dickhead let him down.

But i see the game overall and we didn't look right, now did Anthony come up against a baller that was just too good for him ? I'd have to go over that again the next day, the same with a good few other situations, re run it and get the players in one at a time, to point out what they did wrong or right.

Fine lines, and if bollocks scores the penalty we probably win, but even if we did win 0-1 he should still have learned something.

I'm not an apologist for Farke, Ash, he's made some wrong calls, I think we all agree on that. But I do think we need to be realistic about where we are and why we're there. I am, in general, happy with the direction of travel and what DF is trying to do, but the ripple effect of the summer, as you quite rightly point out, has left us a little behind the 8 ball and it may be that we don't catch up this season. I hope we do, but I don't think it's a given. Kenny made a point re him having only had half a window to try and get the optimal personnel for how he wants us to play, and the fact that he's, to an extent, making do. And I think he's making a pretty decent fist of it. Yes, he's not as transformative as Bielsa was with an, admittedly, weaker squad, but that was Bielsa, a man like him doesn't come along too often in the history of a club.

Ultimately, we all want the same thing, and no-one's opinion is more valid than anyone else's, but the rush toward negativity does bug me at times. Maybe that's common across all fan bases but, given how poorly this club has been run in recent seasons, where we are now feels like a very positive step out of the mire. In my opinion

Horses for courses, he's cutting his cloth according to what he currently has. Doesn't always work, Wednesday being a case in point, but it works enough for us to be sitting third. Which I think most of us would have taken after we fell through the trapdoor in May.

Bielsa spoiled us with the style of play he introduced, it was breathtaking at times, but we did get our arses handed to us on quite a few occasions. I think Farke would like to play a more expansive style, but doesn't feel he currently has the players to do that and not compromise us defensively. Until he does, I'll take the more conservative approach for as long as it works. One thing being a Leeds fan of long standing has taught me is patience, positive change doesn't happen overnight.
