Not so sure ........I wonder if Fury is shot, past it . He has hand picked his last few opponents, if he fought a real decent boxer last night he loses on that showing. Dylian White and Derek Chisora are pretty much the same boxer , both plodding and slow . With Wilder, Fury just has his number and has to avoid the big right, which he at times didn't but managed to recover, he could outbox Wilder anytime . Fury's ideal next opponent would ideally be Joe Joyce, another slow plodder, but he isn't getting a title shot right now after losses . No way does Fury go for Zhang , a boxer , mover who can hit . This farce has backfired on Fury big time , unless is the bank balance that counts .mentalcase wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 10:53 am It was only a show, if it had been a title fight Fury would have had him.
Ngannou is a beast of a man, very good MMA and decent boxer to boot, also lovely human being, putting a lot back into the gym and young fighters where he began.

I think Fury should quit, he'll go down as unbeaten HWC of the world right now, as you say, he'll get picked off sometime, he'll lose his credibility , law of average say he'll lose sometime, I would hate to see him as some washed up bum, it aint like he needs the brass, he just cannot give in.Clacton White wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:03 pm Not so sure ........I wonder if Fury is shot, past it . Fury looked really unfit, like he'd taken the fight for granted.
I think he was shocked and combine that with the lack of preparation and the coaching people like Tyson had given Ngannou on how to go about the fight Fury was in trouble.

I know thats why I said. if was a proper fight, he would have trained especially for it, a bit like his stint at wrestling, just another gimmick.

Re: Boxing chat
It was a gimmick alright, but Fury has come out of it with no credit , plenty of cash , but no sporting credit. Then Fury has always said he doesn't care about legacy or his place in history . He vastly underestimated Ngannou , who learned a lot in a short while .Mike Tyson taught him loads pretty quick really, that brings me to Mike Tyson v Fury ( not the gobby old one ) , Iron Mike would have destroyed him , too quick and would be inside Fury's defence before he knew it , landing loads of short sharp blows....I am talking of pre Bruno Tyson, who pretty much every brighter he fought was bigger than him . Fury has trouble with smaller fighters anyway and Mike It's speed and movement would be far too much.Fury is lucky that these days most heavy weights are 6'5 plus and not many are very quick . To me this whole thing was a farce , but it backfired, what was written as an easy walkover , against someone he should take out whenever he wanted.....I thought Fury might carry Ngannou for a few rounds to give the paying public something to watch , but it was not a convincing result at all.mentalcase wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:24 pm I know thats why I said. if was a proper fight, he would have trained especially for it, a bit like his stint at wrestling, just another gimmick.

Re: Boxing chat
Only Ngannou came out of last night with any credit. Fought a good fight, especially given it was his first professional boxing bout, probably a very clever move to have Mike T in his corner. Who, as well as being a great fighter, was always a student of the fight game. Fury saw this as no more than a show for a big pay day in the desert, but his credibility has certainly taken a knock and there's an argument that Ngannou deserved the verdict. Though, of course, that wasn't going to happen and possibly jeopardize the Usyk fight.
It's a shame AJ has no chin as he is, for me, a far better boxer than Fury but the fact is he would, inevitably, get caught by one of Fury's big punches and that would be the end of it. Not many genuine heavyweight match ups to be made these days, all the best fights are amongst the small men who stand and trade all day. Proper throwback fights.

Loved boxing back in the day. Watching with my brother. We were obsessed. Hagler, Hearns, McGuigan, Magri etc etc and my fav fighter ever Colin Jones. His fights with Kirkland Laing. Brilliant.
Never cost a penny. Load of w**k now tbh

Re: Boxing chat
He did. Brilliant underrated fighter. But Jones decked him twice in the same round in different fights. He was as hard as nails. Curry cut him to pieces though. That was sad.Clacton White wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 9:20 pm Don't forget ....Kirkland Laing beat Roberto Duran too . On his day he was brilliant .

Nothing in it for Fury other than money and how much money does he need? (silk pajamas and all that) No motivation for him with nothing to gain only everything to lose and it nearly happened like that. If he still has the fight left in him.... then we should see the best version of Tyson Fury against Usyk. He now has a point to prove and the doubters to silence again. Altho he will probably retire again first.

Re: Boxing chat
I have watched the fight twice and I still have Ngannou as the winner on points, Fury had a bad night, looked out of shape and obviously underestimated him, Fury looked beaten up on his interview this morning.
Having three British judges was rather odd.
Ngannou took the defeat like a gentleman, I think he would give Joshua a beating.
Fury had better get in top shape for Usyk because he is a different class altogether.

Also Tyson Fury has been telling everyone how wonderful Saudi Arabia is and how its safe for all.
Tyson Fury is also getting paid £150mil for 2 fights in the same country.
He was never going to be allowed to lose was he

How does anyone prepare for someone who has never boxed before? Fury said he prepared well... I would like him to elaborate on that. Prize fighting brings the best out of fighters who are fighting to feed their families, Fury is a multi-Millionaire. Fury is a great Boxer but if he's just about numbers then for me he will never find his level again. He has said himself money doesn't make him happy... so it sounds like its becoming an addiction? Maybe he is planning a trip to the moon who knows.BradWhite wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 1:43 pm I have watched the fight twice and I still have Ngannou as the winner on points, Fury had a bad night, looked out of shape and obviously underestimated him, Fury looked beaten up on his interview this morning.

Credit Ngannou... imo he took it well because he knew he was meant to lose. Someone like Tony Bellew should get in the ring with one of these Youtube boxers and show them no mercy. Imo its degrading the Sport of Bowing.

Re: Boxing chat
Fury is a walking contradiction, not interested in money , yet he is on about % and what Usyk is worth ( who has 3/4 of the available belts.....go figure ) . He isn't interested bin his legacy yet rates himself as the greatest ...but unlike other greats of their eras he has ducked most of the best of the current crop.....Chisora ? Whyte ? Do me a favour , they are slow journeymen .I think with Chisora he just gave him a payday, Whyte is essentially the same fighter. To me the whole Fury clan has bought boxing into disrepute with their silly games and shenanigans.Leeds1000 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 6:37 pm How does anyone prepare for someone who has never boxed before? Re: Boxing chat
Fury's was too occupied on his marketing for Netflix and promoting his fizzy drink and books while playing at WWE, then he comes out with a daft statement saying his main aim is to be on the Forbes rich list over being undisputed HW Champion, then he says money means nothing at all to him.
I like Fury but he has had 5 title defences, 3 against the same man (Wilder) and two fights with poor apposition in Whyte and Chisora.
I believe he will take the Usyk fight far more seriously but he won't get away with trying to out box Usyk, he's going to need to to drag him into a brawl that's if he doesn't walk away and vacate the WBC belt or be stripped of it if he refuses to fight Usyk.

Re: Boxing chat
Not with 3 British Judges and Brit referee.
However it wasn't a world title title fight, more of an exhibition event, a cash grab, I mean Ngannou has never boxed before and got £10m to Fury's £60m.
He should have had a point deducted for throwing that elbow in Ngannou's face, he must have thought he was in for a long night when Ngannou didn't flinch and completely out powered him.
A rematch won't happen but I'd like to see Joshua in with Ngannou.

Fury was s**t but boxed behind the jab landed more punches . Stats also suggest he wins this. Ngannou what a humble fellow thought he won,no histrionics about the decision and made a fortune. I'd like to see him In with Aj or Wilder that would be fun. Now people have seen him box they may work out a better strategy, who knows. A big powerful man with out doubt
Trouble is a judge's decision is subjective and based on their criteria . Oh and their probably bent
