Sorry
They’re still 2nd in the away table. Maybe 2-2 is not that unlikely.

We are slightly underperforming xG in defence.weasel wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 2:50 pm The reason we are 3rd is down to Farke gelling a team together and getting the best out of his best players. The reason we're not top 2 is that Farke relies too much on his best players.
Farke's managerial record at Norwich was made to look so much better as they exceeded xg by loads at both ends of the pitch. The reason Farke is sh*t is because we are underperforming against xg at both ends of the pitch.
All about how you choose to use facts to fit an argument.
By 1.6 which we all knew with Meslier
Our xG for is on point, 37 scored xG of 37.7.
His Norwich team was vastly overperfoming on one or the other in both his seasons.
Without overperfoming we have a below top 2 record which is exactly what his Norwich team had.
If anything it reinforces that his teams were carried imo.
Something Norwich fans said and many of our have said about Summerville.

So our defensive problems - in the main - are because of Meslier ?Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 3:41 pm We are slightly underperforming xG in defence.

Is this your interpretation?
I know you do not rate him and often suggest he had a decent game through gritted teeth. But you have called quite a few players average in the past who have proven to be anything but.
Is Meslier the finished article - No.
But ask yourself this why has every coach bar Big Sam chosen Meslier as their No1 keeper. Albeit he just changed the dynamics because there was little he could do. This indicates an inference that you are right and they are wrong.
As fans all we are generally exposed to is the 90 mins on the pitch. The coaches and management work with players every day. I tend to adopt the stance that they are far better qualified to make judgements on a players ability and standing.
This is not about stifling debate or opinion. But calling one player out for defensive issues is analytically flawed IMO. He has a part to play without a doubt but the issue is more complex.

The stat that really worries me about today’s game is that we haven’t won a game unless SB is playing. Pretty certain he is out today I haven’t had much time to follow events during the last week. Do we expect Spence and Archie as the fullbacks again ?
