Lump it up to Bamford from minute one.

3 very important points required this time round. One of the top 3 will drop points it just can't be us!! Automatic slots vital.

We'd all be very happy with that score-line.
I think it's very likely, that automatic promotion (or not) will depend on goal difference. At the moment, we're 2 goals better than Leicester and 11 better than Ipswich. A victory today - preferably by a wide goal margin, will be a big positive for our promotion prospects.

Moving the ball forward is easy, finding a team mate is the tricky bit. Especially when the midfield pair just stand still and do not want the ball.

To be honest Scooby you are never one for writing anything positive.Scoobychief wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 9:17 am Business end of the season and things aren't going well. What do you expect. I'd rather be playing in the premier league than the championship.it was in our own hands a few times and we managed to screw it up. So it isn't any wonder why I'm moaning and groaning

Not really no I don't see much similarities between the styles.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 5:18 am DF hasn't had the time or £gazillions Pep and Klopp have trying to perfect it, and even they couldn't do it with bang average players, and players have to be able to adapt to differing games and styles of play, they themselves are hard to come by, as most players have just the one game in them, their natural one, ask them to do anything different and they're flummoxed and have to think too hard, which in turn ruins their overall game.
On the other hand, yes, you are correct mentioning Bert, he could do it with a wider range of bang average players, and a lesser budget.
And yes there are comparables in what DF is trying to do like Pep, Klopp and Bert, can you not see it ?
The pressing at times perhaps and the possession based style (when we aren't doing that counter crap)
But apart from that not really no.
We play much slower and much more risk averse than those aforementioned managers.

Hoping DF mentioning the improved fitness of Gnonto and Roberts may see changes?
He won't drop Bamford, seems to have nailed his colours to that mast.

I am with you - I find your posts a welcome respite.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 3:55 pm Fear is a virus that is infectious. It affects your spirit. How many people on here express the idea that they get depressed when the results don't go our way... it seems their mental well being is dependent on positive results for us and negative results for others.
It is apparent that if we suffer a loss then fans get reved up to make an analysis of what went wrong, making proposals of what could have been done different... change of players, change of system, time of substitutions, those are the most common.
If is not enough that one person makes these obvious observations, but there is a general pile on expressing the same idea ad nauseum, and it does become a depressing read. And the conversation descends into Mass Formation Hysteria which is not good for anyone.
I can well imagine the gnashing of teeth if Lester beat the Pilgrims tonight... And the joy if they loose.
But hey that is what fans are like.

It sounds like he is sign posting. If Gnonto and Roberts are fit the change in the line up is pretty obvious. Whether Gray moves into midfield is hard to call. Albeit he rarely if ever drops Gray to the bench, and quite rightly because he is quality, so hopefully he is in midfield.
Not convinced Gray for Kamara in midfield and Firpo at LB works, unless Firpo plays more defensively. If that is the case you would expect Byram instead. It is difficult one to call.

I think Bamford is mainly picked for his experience. DF frequently talks about the importance attached. If you replaced him with Joseph, who is our only other 9 you potentially have a front four who are all 22 and under. Whilst some may fizz at the bunghole at the prospect - there are not many coaches who would choose that option at this stage of the season.

1. The players aren't really good enough for it, and have shown to struggle against quite a few teams, which makes them look terrible.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 9:43 am Not really no I don't see much similarities between the styles.

2, DF probably isn't as good a coach as them.
I think every single one of us know our players best game, and if we can't break thru a low block, it's because we don't have De Bruyne etc quality.
And yes our players are way way too slow and predictable, and they make it too easy for the oppos to keep their own shape, and get organised.
