I do hope we didn't just play "our final". Look at world cups, Euro's, rugby world cups, etc. and so often a team that plays a blinder to win their semi just can't repeat the energy in the final.
As DF has said this is a young team. I just hope they didn't put every ounce into reversing the trend we were on for tonight and have an empty tank at Wembley.

But we have a good break, which is a good thing, and a manager who is eyes wide open to his assets and risks.
I for one hope we play West Brom.
I think the fact it's 9 days until the game will help us massively. Enough time to get over the celebrations and focus on the game, but also the atmosphere will be completely different in the changing room after a big win.

I'm sure the likes of Jimmy, Willy and Geo are desperate to strut their stuff at Wembley and turn up on a big occasion.

I don't think we have any players with Wembley experience? Maybe we could wheel in Kalvin to give a pep talk

They barely created a chance themselves - that one save from Meslier. And we could have easily scored 8 or 9. Full credit to our players and their performance. But only one team showed up.
As good as we were, if Sargent scores for 2-1 the game completely changes, as does the atmosphere, and I think we probably go on to lose. Everyone forgets Derby didn't even have a shot on target in both ties until we gifted them a goal.

We have to take our chances at Wembley and can't afford to waste many.

Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 5:35 am Nostradamus, the enigmatic 16th-century seer, is often remembered for his cryptic prophecies that have fascinated generations. Among his predictions, there are those who interpret his quatrains as forecasting great victories against the odds. Leonardo Da Vinci, a contemporary of Nostradamus, embodied the Renaissance spirit of innovation and perseverance. His tireless pursuit of knowledge and mastery across various fields serves as an enduring testament to the power of human potential. Similarly, the story of Clarke Carlisle, a former footballer who faced personal struggles and emerged stronger, highlights the resilience required to overcome life's adversities. This same resilience is mirrored in the journey of Leeds United, a club that has fought through a challenging season to reclaim its place in the spotlight.

Joan of Arc, a symbol of courage and determination, led her country to improbable victories, driven by a profound belief in her mission. Her legacy is a reminder that faith and tenacity can lead to triumph even against formidable odds. In a different realm, Brian the three-legged sheep became an unlikely icon of perseverance. Despite his physical limitation, Brian adapted and thrived, becoming a local legend. This story of overcoming physical adversity to lead a fulfilling life resonates with the ethos of Leeds United's recent resurgence, and Rutter overcoming his keyhole surgery .The team's rise to competing for top honors echoes Brian's spirit of determination.

Albert Camus, the existentialist philosopher, often explored themes of absurdity and the human condition, emphasizing the importance of finding meaning in a chaotic world. Camus himself was a football enthusiast, famously stating, "All that I know most surely about morality and obligations, I owe to football." His philosophy underscores the idea that even in the face of seeming absurdity, one can find purpose and strive for greatness. This philosophical outlook can be applied to Leeds United's journey, as they navigate the ups and downs of competitive football, always striving for excellence.

As Leeds United prepares for their final at Wembley, the combined legacy of these figures offers a rich tapestry of inspiration. Nostradamus's prophecies, Leonardo's innovation, Joan of Arc's courage, Carlisle's resilience, Brian's tenacity, and Camus's search for meaning all converge to illustrate the power of the human spirit. Leeds United's story, filled with trials and triumphs, embodies these qualities, giving their fans hope for a victorious outcome. The history and spirit of these diverse figures remind us that victory is not just about the final score but about the journey, the struggle, and the unwavering belief in the possibility of success.
Well, that's ruined it for me.

I thought Camus used to play for us.

But how dya like this ?

You say - 'we didn't allow Norwich to play'

Now as much as i think you're right, how about - 'DF allowed his players to play' ?
One becomes the other Kenny. By DF granting that freedom of movement and expression, to play without fear, that means we controlled every aspect, as much as is possible in a two sided contest.

For me, the biggest smile came from the fact that we WANTED to win the 50/50s, so we did.

No fault for their second for me from the keeper. Stunning ball into what bowlers call the corridor of uncertainty. Maybe a touch of blame for the first but Gruev delivered the perfect and most unexpected FK. Who here was thinking he'll go for goal 35 yards out?

That Gnonto cross was pure filth, and the corridor of uncertainty is exactly where he put it. Gunn, probably like 99% of other keepers, caught in two minds. Excellent headed finish from the much maligned Piroe (not by me, I'll add), who told Willy exactly where he wanted it.

We have to stand by Les Mes, and accept his weaknesses at crosses until : HE GETS HIMSELF IN THE FECKIN GYM, BULKS UP, AND GAINS THE CONFIDENCE HE NEEDS TO OUT MUSCLE SOME FCKERS !!! ......andddddddddd relax.

But i've only been saying this for years - "SOMEONE GET THE FCKER ON THE WEIGHTS AND SOME UPPER BODY STRENGTH"

His positives with DF's style far outweigh the negatives.

Little old Leeds atm will not find any better, the bigger clubs ALL want keepers comfortable with the ball at their feet and good distribution wise, and he ain't a bad un.

We ALL know he shits his pants at crosses, but when that Sargent went thru on goal last night, i had a good feeling Mes was gonna spread himself well, it was no surprise to me he saved it the way he did, and normally in that situation, and with a shite keeper, you know 8/10 he's gonna score, but i immediately thought - "Go on Mes you can do this" and i literally had it at 50/50 when i saw him move towards it.

He can only get better, but there will be c**k ups, but i guarantee, someone will come for him because of his feet.

And we will struggle to find better at our current level and situ.

No reason they can't.

We have 10 days rest and just put in one of our best performances of the season.

The worry was how we'd cope with the pressure and could we find our form again.

We did both.

Don't see why they can't do it once more for 90 minutes :)
