Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
We didn't have a midfielder on the bench in the play-off final.
If Aaronson was in our team last season, he would have been an improvement in our match day squad

Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
Really don't get this lack of loyalty thing when players simply chose to do what was agreed prior to them signing.
Gnonto was far worse.

Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
Nope, he's still shite regardless.
Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
His agents leaking his release clause less than a day after relegation left a bad taste.
He didn't see the bigger picture like Summerville did (his career has skyrocketed).
But the club were thick enough to put the stupid clauses in so it's kinda meh.
I more object to his return because he's shite, he'd get eaten alive in the Championship based on what we've seen here.
And Farke's system hardly makes it easy for players in his role, he'd get doubled up on and kicked to bits.

Top class footwork and I think that's his problem, it's too good for most defenders and a clip at that pace will result in him going downAcrossThePondAsh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 7:27 pm He's got some of the prettiest footwork I've seen, before Geo. Brenden's ability to "turn and burn" is hard to beat and his passing accuracy had echoes of Geo's best when at the start of the Marsch season--perfectly weighted passes just where they needed to be.

Your opinion on his ability may well prove to be correct but I'd be very surprised if that was the case.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 8:29 pm His agents leaking his release clause less than a day after relegation left a bad taste.

Aaronson will be a very good in the Championship. especially as the last two seasons will have helped him mature massively as a player.

Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
That's what a lot aren't considering with wanting to get rid of everyone. We need a deeper squad than last season. Probably about 22 players. Can't be going into summer with 11 spots to fill. Better we consider what we already have first.
Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
For our sake let's hope so.
We have £25mil tied up in him
Far from convinced myself.
He doesn't seem to have improved much at all.
Is he any better than the meh player in Austria 2 3 years ago?

2021/22
Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa refuses to give up on the Brenden Aaronson transfer and remains “obssessed” with bringing the USA midfielder to Elland Road.
The Whites have zoned in on their midfield as a vital area to add to in the January transfer window. While Daniel James and Junior Firpo bolstered attack and defence in the summer, midfield is an area of concern.
As such, Leeds head coach Bielsa has identified RB Salzburg star Aaronson as a key target.
United saw their opening £15million bid for the USA international swiftly rejected. That was soon followed by an increased offer of £20m, with Salzburg once again standing firm.
And despite director of football Victor Orta travelling to Austria for negotiations, it seems Salzburg have little desire to sell this month.
Indeed, they are currently preparing for a Champions League round-of-16 tie with Bayern Munich. And weakening their squad this month appears the last thing on their mind. As a result, The Athletic’s Phil Hay has indicated Leeds are facing disappointment.

Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
Thanks for sharing this, '64. A good watch from Locky as always.
Aaronson himself seems most comfortable as the free-ranging 10 Locky described:
“I was comfortable in the position I was playing, which is between the lines and today I was just trying to find free space and break up the lines,” Aaronson said after enjoying his best game for Union, scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory over Werder Bremen in March. “It felt right to me, that’s how I’ve played my whole career and it felt really good today.
“Honestly, the last few weeks haven't come out of nowhere. I didn’t really get my chance after the first couple of games, I’ve had to be patient, learn the style of play. I wasn’t playing in position, it wasn’t the best but at 10 today, it makes such a difference. I had a free role, it felt good, it felt right and I was able to play my game.”

Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
Indeed - just cos some likely wanabee journalist writes something doesn't make it true. Seemed more of an Orta obsession especially given how Orta signed him when Bielsa was no longer at the club. It always seemed like Orta had identified Jesse Marsch as the manager he wanted and as such wanted a RB player (or several) so Orta was going to sign Aaronsen whether Bielsa wanted him or not, like several other vanity signings.
Aaronsen is the sort of player that fits into the metrics of what Orta seemed to want, same with Rutter, in that he was highly rated as a youngster, loads of potential etc. The type of signing that if it worked out could become a £60m type player. The only trouble is that when signing those type of players for the sort of money we did then you need a 50% success rate just to break even financially (and that is without taking wages into consideration). You really need to be identifying those sorts of players when you can be getting them cheap whereby a 10% success rate sees you break even or make profit (and you can hopefully then also break even or make a small profit on a few others who do okay but don't excel).
I thought the answer was a porcupine but it turned out to be Old Trafford....

Precisely.
Any feckin lazy journalist could take it upon himself to write a piece for his bosses of a 'clickbait' site.
Thinking - " H'mm, what type of manager is Bert, and what type of players could he like, AH! i know, i'll write a piece on someone that MIGHT fit the bill"
Then all of a feckin sudden, some children, believing the internet is king, believe every feckin word of it as Gospel.

Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
Yep, he was a Bielsa target for sure ... and why not? Good technical footballer, with a great range of passing and could turn on a sixpence. MB wasn't wrong often1964white wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 5:21 am 2021/22

Re: Will you forgive Brenden Aaronson?
I really don't get this business of "forgiving" a player.
For me, starting from the standpoint that no player is no bigger than the club, if a player wants to leave then they should go. What I cannot accept is when some extract the urine as in the case of Harry Ke***l when he swanned off, (and bombed ) to Liverpool.
If they come back and do the business then all is fine and dandy. What's not to like?
In the case of Brendan Aaronson, he is just 23 and has a lot to learn and also a lot to prove. Personally, and I can only judge on what I saw when he last wore the shirt, he is a lightweight and was pretty ineffective on the pitch. If however, he can do a job for us in the Championship, Daniel Farke wants him and he is willing to give it a go then why the heck not? He is already our player.
What Leeds fans will not accept is any player that short changes them match to match, season to season.

Bielsa showed interest in Aaronson long before Marcelo left Leeds back in the summer of 2021.weasel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:27 am Indeed - just cos some likely wanabee journalist writes something doesn't make it true. Ahh, we're now down to 'interested' from 'obsessed' are we.
Keep going down Sid,
Then let me know how much he was 'interested' in paying for him, if you can.
There's a good chap.
