Gareth Southgate's England squad that is. A talented bunch undoubtedly which the England Manager has turned to rust. A dreadful performance from England against Denmark and looking quite clueless and out of sorts. All the friendlies, get togethers, watching match after match after match and what the heck has he managed to put together from all that? Sweet FA by the seem of things.

The players look like a bunch of strangers meeting for the first time and trying to wing it. Perhaps they are thinking of their holidays...........

Just watched the game as I had a busy morning. Truly dull in terms of tactics and a lot of mistakes from the players.

There were brief moments of promise. Foden and Trent both made one long surging run. Kyle Walker's speed was an attacking threat, But most of the time we were dormant. Even worse was the number of times we miscued the pass or the cross. Looked like players really lacking in confidence. This style is making good players look average,

Credit to Guehi who is starting to look the part. Pleased with Walker, Stones, and Kane did well when he dropped deep (although he shouldn't have to). Not sure why Kane came off. But there was mention of a back injury that had been bothering him during the last game. My best case would be that it was pre-decided that he'd only play 60 minutes. And to his credit Watkins looked lively when he came on.

Not sure about the subs as a whole. Watkins a few good moments. But Bowen, Gallagher, and Eze off the bench are uninspiring. Why not Palmer? Ironically when Gallagher was warming up, Trent had two really good moments. He was just starting to find his feet in the game and it was in a 10 minute period when we played our best football. But he took Trent off anyway because he'd already decided. Seemed a weird time to make the change. And we disappeared again after that.

Would love to see players stand up and pressure the manager a bit. Kind of like they did in Italia 90 and we became a good footballing team mid-tournament. But Southgate will look at 4 points from 2 games and say it's good enough. We'll win the group. No need to do anything different. Would have been better if we'd lost today which might have enforced a change.

As anyone can see, we can take it to any of the top teams on our day. There's hope. But we have to start making an effort to put teams on the back foot.

I thought Kane was awful, wandered around disjointedly, no press or closing down, not available for the out ball. Had a hand in both goals. scored ours, created theirs

Job done tonight as now we're almost certain to quailfy which ultimately was the task at hand whilst it's the group stages.

That said it all seemed very similar to when Iceland knocked us out in 2016 and our chances of going deep in the tournament currently look slim to non existant.
