[Muppet the Cat]

A couple of people/bands I'd never come across before.

Firstly, Al Manfredi and 'Blue Gold'......apparently half of the album is in effect a re-issue of an album that came out (to little fanfare) in 1973. It's very good.

Secondly, The Handsome Family. Never heard of them, but noticed the poster/flyer when we saw Kelly Jones in the week, as they were on the night after (the Thursday of the Norwich game) so brought them up on Spotify to see who they were/what they sounded like...........a bit Gothic Country and some pretty decent tracks there.

The wonderful Kate Crutchfield, aka Waxahatchee, Tigers Blood is a cracker too, ticket to see her live in Brighton

Waiting for the new Wand album, Cory Hanson maybe the best thing on the planet atm…

Screen Frogs’s Subterranean Wreckage Among Stolen Hues is another good album from 24 and of course there’s a new Pokey Lafarge out there

The Eels release their 15th album 'Eels Time! soon.

Have you read Eels Mark Oliver Everett's book - Things The Grandchildren Should Know.

It's autobiographical and quite harrowing in parts.

Well worth a read if you can still find a copy.

Gone back to an album Faaip recommended, Cory Hansen's album Pale Horse Rider, this morning. I do love mellow stuff.

Western Cum from 23 is better ..... New album from Wand in July

This years 1 so far though is Chelsea Wolfe's She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She ... if you like a heavier more interesting Bjork this might be for you... that's a generic you not you in particular 64




I have tickets for Brighton later this year, should be immense

King Hannah are back, a small tour and a follow up to one of the great debuts. Big Swimmer is stunning if you like proper guitar and not fretwankers...

Tropical f**k Storm also on a small tour of the UK if you live in the Newcastle, Brum, Bristol or London areas ...or even if you don't. The former members of the Drones producing eclectic off the wall music

I never realised that the top ten hit 'I Go To Sleep' for The Pretenders was a cover song.

Can't recall hearing the Peggy Lee version from 1965, until I heard it on the radio on our journey south. Apparently written by the legendary Ray Davies.

I knew that, Applejacks did the version I know, I don't recall Peggy Lee's version either

The Mono is excellent have had the new one on for a couple of weeks. If you like them then "Break My f**king Sky" is worth a shot, excellent album last year in Blind. Russian band


The King Hannah is great album to chill to, "I'm not Sorry I was Just being Me" is maybe better, more interesting but I like both. The collection of early EP's worth the price too.

Anyway, we get closer to Wand's new release. Vertigo out end of the month and the tasters have been a bit special

Another band I’ve never come across, but have been listening to this last week, on your recommendation. The only Russian band I’ve got anything by is Show Me A Dinosaur and ‘Plantgazer’.

‘Blind’ was very good and working back I thought ‘Eviscerate Soul’, in particular.

Also the recent single ‘One Last Light After Midnight’

Thanks, faaip................gave this a couple of listens through today. Quite enjoyed, but not up there with the previous BMFS recommendation, who have been on frequent rotation the last couple of weeks.
