I agree he is probably worth more than 25 million comparatively to other similar players. My view is we needed to sell from a PSR/FPP perspective and they are only the club who have shown genuine interest. Other clubs will have been approached behind the scenes to gauge interest.Cjay wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 9:34 pm He's also only 22, and he's worth a lot more to us than £25mil minus whatever the Dutch club get.
Selling not only your top scorer, your top creator and officially the best player in the league for only £25mil when you rejected an offer from Burnley of £20mil last summer is downright weird when they heavily pushed the Red Bull deal as allowing us to dictate terms from now on and transfers and reiterated that to justify selling Archie.
And I'm gonna have a guess that we have asked for a very large chunk up front, I sense a Raph situation here.
West Ham fans are absolutely delighted with the fee which says it all really.
Said I felt replacing Summerville could define our season given how reliant Farke was on him.
Massive week ahead.

Also Summerville was never going to stay with us this season.DDB220 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 1:34 pm I agree he is probably worth more than 25 million comparatively to other similar players. With no bidding war we have to either accept it or risk alienating our best player and perhaps some of the other squad as well.

The club sold the Gray and Red Bull deals as the answer to ffp.DDB220 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 1:34 pm I agree he is probably worth more than 25 million comparatively to other similar players. Then again Marathe was demoted at 49ers for leaking stuff to the press so he's not above trying to use the media to manipulate.
It's a poor price really imo and made worse by the club lying.
Let's hope they are telling the truth about being organised.

Re: Crysencio Summerville
Indeed. Considering how many clubs were supposedly after him it is remarkable the lack of genuine interest. Maybe we set the asking price too high for all those clubs, the £30m-£40m suggestions on here would appear far from realistic. If the £25m was cheap then why aren't other clubs breaking down the door?
Summerville had his best season and this is his big chance to get a move. It does look however like it is going to be a stepping stone move, to a club where if he then does well he will get a move to a 'big' club. The Chelseas, Liverpools etc can see how he does in the prem, over a full season, and if he does well then they will make a move. If he does average or worse then he stays where he is or even goes out on loan etc.
It was always likely he would leave, he might never raise his profile higher. He has deserved a move where he will no doubt get a pay increase and sign a contract that will set him up for life. If he stayed and had as good a season again then his stock only rises slightly as he is still unproven at a higher level. If he stayed and had a bad season then his 'big' move never happens.

They were for last seasons FFP. They did not mention this season specifically. They have to plan for all outcomes. What you do not do in business is let other businesses you intend to do business with have knowledge of any negotiating weakness.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:22 pm The club sold the Gray and Red Bull deals as the answer to ffp.

This season we have reduced parachute payments, staged payment liabilities and the expected revenue from the sale of players who went out on loan, who we wanted to offload, is significantly less than the club would have pencilled in. Our wage bill will still be high - I would surmise - in excess of 50 million. Despite trimming fringe players and offloading a few of the loanees. Wober and Aaronson will be comparatively big earners. Rodon and Bogle will be on comparable contracts.
Looking at last seasons accounts when they become available will be revelatory.

Summerville to West Ham announced.
All of a sudden he had an exit clause.
So the club has no choice . . . . . . . . . . . .
New board do everything they can to absolve themselves, running theme this.
Convenient
Good luck Jimmy

This is exactly correct Weasel. There was no other serious interest in Summerville. There was no bidding war. And the player wanted the move. I think 25 million plus add ons is a fair deal for the player and for LUFC.weasel wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 7:11 pm Indeed. The ghost of Victor Orta strikes again
Don't begrudge him his move though, stayed last season when many abandoned ship. Put in a great season last year and £25 million for a player whose had one full season is decent money. Be interesting to see how he gets on next season.

So you feel the blame lies with the current board and suggest they are lying. I would agree as I cannot recall the previous board ever inserting any type of relegation clause in contracts. Sack the board, sack Farke, sack the players - but not the useless ones we got rid off as we need them for squad depth.

I do too. At the start of the summer I thought if we could get £25m it would be a good price. It appears to be around that with potential to increase. Would appear that our board, like when selling anything, asked for more than the worth and potential buyers offered less than the worth and then both parties settled on a figure that was likely around the actual worth.BlackHillsPaul wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 8:37 pm This is exactly correct Weasel. Don't feel like we've been fleeced this summer, unlike previous years. Got decent value for both big sales.

Re: Crysencio Summerville
We don't know what the price was but again no other club was willing to match whatever price that was. Agents will leak that information to potential buyers so if the price is lower than £25m all it does is show that other clubs still weren't prepared to pay whatever the fee was.

More lies being heaped on the board.
Only saw that because he was quoted.
Pathetic.
