Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 9th August) Progress being made in pursuit of Norwich star

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Friday 9th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Progress being made in pursuit of Norwich star

Leeds are making slow progress (but progress nonetheless) in their pursuit of Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe, but do not expect a deal to be struck any time soon. The Canaries almost fell off their perch, when Leeds tried to low-ball them with a £7m offer on Tuesday. It is believed that both sides are willing to negotiate, which could lead to a deal being finalised around the £10m mark, with add-ons.

The club's emphasis on nurturing up-and-coming-stars aligns well with Rowe's potential. The Championship could offer Rowe the perfect stage to showcase his talent and move on to the next stage in his development. Daniel Farke sees the 21yo as the perfect replacement for Crysencio Summerville, who departed for West Ham earlier in the week. His potential to play across the front line could offer tactical flexibility, something sadly lacking last season.

Leeds lose out on Rak-Sakyi

Leeds have lost out on Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, opting instead of a season-long loan to Sheffield Utd. The talented winger had been linked with a host of Championship clubs, but once again, the Bramall Lane hierarchy pulled out all the stops, to get their man. The Blades have bought in Callum O'Hare, Harrison Burrows, Alfie Gilchrist (loan), Jamie Shackleton, Harry Souttar (loan) and Kieffer Moore - and still have change from £5m (not including loan fees).

Several Leeds bloggers have scoffed at the fact that Palace have a recall clause, plus, the loan agreement will set the Blades back £1m. Let's not forget that Leeds paid Citeh £9m in loan fees (over three seasons) for Jack Harrison - even though Everton receive his services for gratis!

Cautiously optimistic but it seems like we will get Rowe. The only stumbling block seems to be the fee. Negotiations are likely to rumble on for a couple of weeks but it will be interesting to see if he plays for Norwich this weekend or if they trundle out the "his head wasn't in the right place" statement.

On paper the blunts are putting together a decent squad.

Remains to be seen how they fair on the grass.

Kamala explains the transfer market to five year olds.

Alright, sweetie, imagine you have a favorite toy store where you can trade your toys for new ones OK!. Now, in the Championship, which is like a big toy store for football teams, they try to trade players (who are like toys) to get better ones and win more games alright!

But sometimes, the trades don't go as planned, it's all about the passage of time, and being unburdened by the things of the past... and it's time for us to do what we have been doing, and that time is every day, to do the right thing. The significance of the passage of time is really important. We are doing transfers in a way that is about being focused on the future OK? Players just don't drop out of a coconut tree.

Teams spend a lot of money and hope to get players who will help them win, but sometimes these players don’t play as well as they expect. It’s like buying a shiny new toy that doesn’t work right when you get home... and you know how disappointing it is when you’re really excited about getting something special, but it doesn’t turn out to be what you hoped for OK? But incidents like JKA will be forgot by the passage of time.

That’s how the teams and their fans feel. They think a new player will be amazing, like mr Walz, but then the player might get hurt or just not play very well... or say the wrong thing, like wanting away. It’s sad because everyone wants to win and have fun, but sometimes things don’t go the way they planned... just ask Joe (hyena cackle). Just like when you have to wait for your favorite toy to get fixed, sometimes players have to spend a long time in the treatment room and get called horrible names like sick note... the teams have to be patient and hope for better trades next time. The passage of time is so important OK?

Clickbait reports on both sides of the channel suggesting Marseille have made an £8m bid for Rowe.

The lack of response to this thread suggests this one is not setting the world on fire
