There's nothing to suggest he'll be worth £100m lol. He's not even worth what we paid, so to make a profit on it is good going. It's one thing doing it against Rotherham and Cardiff, but losing the ball as easily as he does v Man Citeh, Liverpool and Arsenal would be disastrous at that level.airedale wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 6:28 am If he goes it's another Cantona moment for me ,i will sulk for years.
Such an entertaining player , a great prospect and if Brighton are willing to pay that much he may be worth 100million in two years time.
On the plus side might not have to play with two holding midfielder's to clean up after him.

I completely get where you're coming from – losing Georgi is a real gut punch, especially after watching his creativity light up our games and knowing what his spirit and attitude bring off the pitch. I know some may see this as an ok/good thing but I'm not one of them. I'm typically optimistic but this is bad, very bad, and I won't get over it anytime soon. I had made peace with losing Archie and Jimmy, but Geo too? Shoot me already. Geo is too big a loss for me. Really, really sad to see him go but certainly wish him the best if that is what he decides. He helped make last year's matches a true joy to watch.airedale wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 6:28 am If he goes it's another Cantona moment for me ,i will sulk for years.

I'm on my hands and knees praying this goes thru.
There's no way Bloom is such a fool like we were.
To get our £36m back plus some, and hand it to DF, well...nah, stop dreaming Ken, just ain't gonna happen.
We're stuck with him chaps i'm afraid.
But do keep your fingers crossed.

KB - I agree with you often but here we differ. I’m on my hands and knees praying it doesn’t go thru. I don’t think georgi was an Orta f*ck up - quite the opposite actually.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 7:20 am I'm on my hands and knees praying this goes thru.

Think the actual fee was only high 20s, but still the return isn't greatKennyb41 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 7:20 am I'm on my hands and knees praying this goes thru.

Would be one of the few Orta signings to make a profit.AcrossThePondAsh wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 7:30 am KB - I agree with you often but here we differ. I’m on my hands and knees praying it doesn’t go thru. I don’t think georgi was an Orta f*ck up - quite the opposite actually.

Anyone who wants Rutter to leave is an idiot.
Simple as that.

If it's not Farke's fault and not the players', then why we were so poor in the run in and at Wembley?AcrossThePondAsh wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 7:28 am Did you watch all of our matches last year? Serious question - not joking. Not sure how you can even question their value to us as a team.

Ok then, now we are fucked, that’s what 32 goals and 30 odd assists gone with Summerville and rutter and with such a low return for the latter it would seem we can’t even attempt to replace him. It’s a real gut punch for me, favorite player by a mile - imagine putting a £40m release clause in when you signed him for £35m hardly worth the paper work to do the sale with what’s likely to be a big sell on fee aswell. Oh and Philips is going to f**king Ipswich - I’m off back to bed.

You're assuming I see a single "fault" or blame in this situation. There are a myriad of reasons why a team can struggle during the run-in and Wembley...team dynamics and pressure, injury and fatigue, tactical adjustments, experience and mental toughness, collective responsibility. I'm not speaking about fault here - I'm speaking about losing three of our most talented players and being gutted about that. It just sucks. No one could watch all of our matches last year and deny the impact that trio had for us. Pure lunacy to say otherwise.

Good player but highly overrated for me and no end product. The biggest problem is losing him at this time and after a disastrous start to the new sesson. Also we hsve already lost our two best players and didn't replace them.

If we can't replace them with the money brought in, then recruitment and Farke have failed. You don't need to spend £35m to replace him, as he was overpriced anyway. Most of our best signings have been cheap.AcrossThePondAsh wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 7:54 am You're assuming I see a single "fault" or blame in this situation. After taking myself to bed in a real strop because of the result last night, this was not the news I expected to wake up and see. Can only hope the 49ers last ditch attempts to rescue the situation by offering a new deal are successful. Throw all the Summerville money at him and get a few loans in to bolster the squad.

Re: Georginio Rutter - Release Clause Activated
But those you're referring to have been development projects, no? We won't be able to replace these three and what they brought to our team this summer. Just don't see that happening. As I said, I made peace with losing Cry and Archie, even though those were awful, but who is out there to replace Geo right now? Again, not rhetorical, serious question. That can do what he does and how he does it? And, yes, he's not perfect but he's got that intangible thing that brings a spark to this team. Difficult to impossible to replicate.
