We had sells on for Fabian Delph and Kasper Schmeichel. Both flirted with £50m moves but then moved on frees.

Re: Georginio Rutter - Release Clause Activated
i can't think of anyone we've sold recently who could have given us a good fee from a sell-on clause. we're usually selling for big enough transfer fees that sell on fee doesn't make much sense
doubt hoffenheim will be due 4-5 mill as it will be based on the profit, not the overall fee usually
edit: i read the article and hoffenheim didnt have a sell on fee its just payment of a fee that would have been due at a later date

Gray and Summerville immediately spring to mind.danhirons wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 11:55 am i can't think of anyone we've sold recently who could have given us a good fee from a sell-on clause. we're usually selling for big enough transfer fees that sell on fee doesn't make much sense

But anyway you are correct.
They get a fee even though add ons weren't met.

Point still stand about clauses but I misread it wasn't a sell on clause

I'm confident this will prove a false prophecy (bar injuries and such stopping development).
Summerville Is already in the provisional Dutch squad and he hasn't even kicked a ball for Wet Spam yet.

Re: Georginio Rutter - Release Clause Activated
Hoffenheim get £4.2m meaning we actually lose money of the Rutter deal. Why didn't the 49'ers offer him a new contract? £40m release fee is low for someone you paid £35m for. Gutted he is going and I'm blaming 49'ers for this...

Re: Georginio Rutter - Release Clause Activated
United will owe Hoffenheim a transfer payment should Rutter's move to the Premier League side go through, according to German outlet Kicker. It has been suggested that the Whites will have to pay Rutter's former club around £4.2m to reflect add-ons not reached as part of the agreement that took Rutter to Elland Road in January 2023 for a club-record fee.
Would have to be paid in one payment and its not yet clear if a sell on clause was inserted in the original contract

His wage demands would be been far too high for the Championship. He was already on £40k a week.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 2:14 pm Hoffenheim get £4.2m meaning we actually lose money of the Rutter deal. Re: Georginio Rutter - Release Clause Activated
Because i imagine its stipulated in the contract that if the player only serves a certain portion of the contract before sale then he had a far more limited chance of achieving the add ons. Thats my educated guess. I imagine this is instead of a sell on clause in this case.

Ah ok, I see. The add ons were likely based on staying up and playing a certain amount of PL games etc.Jaydog wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 2:26 pm Because i imagine its stipulated in the contract that if the player only serves a certain portion of the contract before sale then he had a far more limited chance of achieving the add ons. Re: Georginio Rutter - Release Clause Activated
Something like that. So the profit on him was in the region of 10 on that basis?

I think we paid £28m outright, then had add ons up £35m that weren't met. Then extra £5m makes it £33m, so an overall profit of £7m. And an ffp profit of around £18.2m I think. That's based on amortisation of £5.6m of 5 years.

No that is true. They were probably surprised by the offer from Brighton.
Now how about 40 for Arronson

I'm gutted he is going too, however.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 2:14 pm Hoffenheim get £4.2m meaning we actually lose money of the Rutter deal. He was already on a PL contract from when he signed and was only 18 months in.
Imagine the uproar if the were to give him even more after we didnt secure promotion.
Also he was offered a new contract this week when it came out the release clause was about to be triggered, and guess what?
He decided to go.
So surely if anyone is to blame it is the player?
