Was never a chance Norwich sell Rowe for £7mil or Blunts Hamer for LESS than they actually paid for him.

At best it's a bit of pr look how hard we tried lads.

Gone quiet? They have 2 hours, they had months to get deals lined up and failed to replace Georgie (8 months if we take Farke at his word) .

Is the squad still good enough for top 2? Given what's happened to Burnley its probably on paper first 18 top 2 level if things go our way.

I think a lot rests on Solomon.

But it's very thin, is it better than last season? No.

Is Farke a manager whose likely to make the difference? No.

So much of it rests imo (Yes negative blah blah blah) on filling it with as much individual talent as possible. The lack of a proper 10 when creating vs low blocks was a problem all last season could be a massive issue.

And I don't think criticising for not replacing someone many on here wanted to be given player of the year is "negative" before the usual drivel starts.

We don’t know what the blunts financial situation looks like - 13million is not a bad initial pitch for Hamer. Whether we decide to bid more is anyone’s guess. What do you think we should pay for Hamer as a matter of interest ?
We had months to get this all lined up, maybe it's frustration on my part etc.

Hamer?

What he's worth to Blunts as literally the best player they have and what he's actually worth two different things.

To them he's probably worth £30+mil because he could genuinely be the difference between promotion and not.

A fair price as a buying club, I'd say £18-20mil with a sell on.

Given his age you don't quite get the future potential of a 21,22,23 year old.

So yeah I'd say £18-20mil is fair, had we offered that I'd say yeah OK that's fair they rejected.

Rowe we offered £7mil he went for double.

What else do you call offering much less than a player is reasonably worth?
So the value of the player is what the selling club says it is? Offering less than the asking price is what I would call the start of negotiations. If the buyer and seller can then agree on a value then that is what the player is worth - until that point he is not 'worth' either amount.

I've explained my view above.

£13mil as a test the water bid fine.

But £13mil then shrug shoulders and get nobody isn't.

Plenty of managers shut Farke down by parking the bus and hitting on the counter.

That's why I wanted a proper 10 more than anything, a big marquee signing is lovely anyway but as Farke likes to say I worry about sins of the past.

But I'd agree with top 4 atleast and injuries permitting top 2, think how Solomon and his knees hold up could be very important
In my opinion we haven't spent any of the Georginio money so anyone expecting automatic promotion is perhaps guilty of wishful thinking.

That said we still might do it but I'd probably favour might not at this moment in time.

Nope it is a starting point in negotiations. If you go in at what you think is the player's actual value and the selling club wants higher then any middle ground is going to be higher than what you think he is worth. So the buyer should offer less than they think he is worth, the seller should ask for more than they think he is worth and then you hopefully strike a happy medium leaving both the buyer and seller happy.

Was never a chance Norwich sell Rowe for £7mil or Blunts Hamer for LESS than they actually paid for him.

So Norwich got more for him than we think he is worth. Only time will tell whether Marseille's assessment of him is better than ours. As for Hamer Sheff U bought him when they were in the Prem. At that point they were a buying club rather than a club that possibly needs to sell. As such it is a buyer's market - if they are desperate to sell.

At best it's a bit of pr look how hard we tried lads.

Gone quiet? They have 2 hours, they had months to get deals lined up and failed to replace Georgie (8 months if we take Farke at his word) .

Rutter only left a week ago. You can't say to the clubs of players that we are interested in don't sell your player in case we need them.

Is the squad still good enough for top 2? Given what's happened to Burnley its probably on paper first 18 top 2 level if things go our way.

I think a lot rests on Solomon.

But it's very thin, is it better than last season? No.

Hard to say at this point until we see how the team performs. What we do know though is that a lot of our players arevery good at this level and proved it last season. There is a lot less doubt about the quality of those players.

Is Farke a manager whose likely to make the difference? No.

So much of it rests imo (Yes negative blah blah blah) on filling it with as much individual talent as possible. The lack of a proper 10 when creating vs low blocks was a problem all last season could be a massive issue.

Different day same sh*t

And I don't think criticising for not replacing someone many on here wanted to be given player of the year is "negative" before the usual drivel starts.

Okay it is just the other 999 things you brought up today that are negative then, but not this one.

The point is Jammy the profit on Rutter is anyone’s guess, how much we paid up front when we bought him is anyone’s guess. The likelihood is we may still be owing money on that deal. But I suspect we do not have the money that many believe is the case.

When last years accounts become available I personally expect quite a few to be surprised by the extent of the debt that had to be settled this season

Ok fair enough let's wait and see.

My view is though that as the club had budgeted to keep Rutter they therefore should be in a position to use the funds received to replace him. Of course that is only half the story as Rutter was an investment project and so the usual rules probably don't apply. However as the club stated they wished and preferred to retain his services then from a FFP stand point we had no need to sell him. Unless of course the club were being economical with the truth.

If we all agree it's comfortable playoff level Farke would be doing the bare minimum again getting playoffs?

So as the expert elite Championship manager he is meant to be he should be getting top 2?

Getting more out of the squad?

If Bielsa can get the dross he did top 2 and Mckenna can get a league 1 squad top 2 then Farke as the greatest Championship manager ever will.

I'd like to hear what the insurmountable obstacle was that meant we couldn't reach an agreement with Freiberg to sign Sallai, who by all accounts wanted the move.

Ok let's go with it's Farke's fault if we don't get promoted.

May as well because in all likelihood it's P45 time for him if we do miss out.

Notice however that was not get promoted, whereas your barometer seems to be reading automatic or failure.

He's sacked if we don't.

Absolutely certain of it he won't get a 3rd chance.

I didn't say failure I said bare minimum.

Playoffs and promotion he stays (having achieved the bare minimum).

Less than that he deserves the sack as we go back to purgatory under our Yankee asset strippers

Until Red Bull ride to the rescue :)
