There was a gap between what we offered up ?£13 m and what the Blunts asking price was apparently £18m. Surely there was a deal to be done somewhere in the middle? It seems to me that the likely scenario is that the club put up a smokescreen played games pretending whilst having no intention of spending anything remotely like that amount of money for a player.

We went fishing in the £10m and under pond - Rondon being the most expensive. No problem with that essentially but sometimes Clubs take fans for mugs

Some times people can`t or just won`t believe the actuall truth. If the club says this or that then as far as some fans are concerned its all lies.
Of course there are times when they wont say exactly whats going on, only stupid clubs or companies would tell everyone else about their exact details.

Apparently Leeds signed a pre-contract agreement for a Nigerian Left back in the summer window.
He is only 16 and can't join Leeds until he is 18, so one for the future.

Given how stretched our squad is talk has turned to the free agent market.

I don't think we will sign anyone

We never seem to use this market.

But had a look yesterday and nobody is ideal, too old, often injured etc.

But one name did jump out a bit (pretty old admittedly and no stranger to an injury but needs must).

2014 German World Cup Winner Christoph Kramer.

A 6ft3 holding midfielder who played at the successful World Cup in 2014 for Germany.

33 years old, been playing regularly in the Bundesliga for 10,11 seasons.

Almost all of it for Borussia Mönchengladbach!!!!!

He knows Farke.

He played 30 times for him before DF got the sack.

So he knows the style already.

Missed a lot of football with fitness issues last season but beggars can't be choosers.

Seen the free agent market mentioned quite a few times on social media. I remember this guy's name but that's about it, tbh. However, surely we should be looking at who might come in and offer some cover, feels like a no brainer to me.

Edouard Michut is another interesting option and actually may be the best one under the circumstances

1 goal 3 assists in Turkey last season.

Did a full pre season with the team in the summer, started 2 league games this season.

But left end of August over unpaid wages.

So he's fully fit or atleast much more likely to be fitter than the other options most of whom are 30+ with extensive injury records and lack of match fitness.

He's still only 21, was only 2 years ago he was appearing on those most promising teenage footballer lists with people like Endrick.

Not really a defensive midfielder though, may he a bit adventurous for Mr Mundane, but could also provide cover for Aaronson as he was actually a 10 for much of his youth career at PSG.

Surely we’ll be looking with a little more interest now.
Farke not keen due to fitness levels, tactical knowledge etc but time is what he does have.
Ampadu wont be “fully” back till January and Gruev possibly not this season.
However it is like shopping for the wife’s birthday present in the Esso garage when you had plenty of time to buy in the posh shops but got drunk instead.
