Pos. Probably the best away performance of the season.
Neg. Meslier failed

Tanaka looks like a class act, assured in possession spins on a 6 pence, forward looking good player. Very similar to Ampadu in his challenges, hard but mostly fair.

Was unconvinced by Rothwell in his sub appearances but think with game time could he give Gruev some problems late on in the season. Looked sharper, great passing range going forward.

Piroe looked more physical, especially first half. Bit of aggression with CBS which I think he's lacked for such a big guy. Clinical finish. Good competition between him and Joseph.

Gnonto stand out, threat and end product. This could be his year to really shine.

Firpo, another good defensive and attacking display.

Schmidt I think could be a good buy..... Liked his movement speed and physicality in his cameo. Pushed players off the ball and that cutting pass late on showed decent forward vision with the competence to deliver.

---------------

Meslier..... Not put a foot wrong all game. But...... Like I've said in previous seasons he's got the psychology that's fine when he needs to instinctively react..... Worldie of a shot stopper...... But when he has time to think there's issues.
Just a lack of concentration in the moment which has cost us before. They all deserved better after that effort.

Bogle..... Defensively really suspect first half. Felt he couldn't handle their winger or passing, caught outtoo often. Better second half but definitely weak defensively on that side for me.

Rothwell...... Great game overall and don't know whether its just a case of blowing off the cobwebs but defensively looked weaker in the centre for me. Pretty sedantry when we were without the ball, out of position for their first ball watching, which is why Rodon was pulled to their defender.
Think it'll get better though when his partnership with Tanaka grows.

Squeeky bum feeling every time a cb or midfielder goes in for a challenge. Not a fan of it. 6 games in we have no senior CBS or midfielders beyond the first 11. :verysad

This, I was really worried about this game, especially in the first 10mins, after they scored I was convinced they were going to go on and smash us, but we took control and apart from.a few chances they had we looked good, I was just celebrating a great away win when.... I feel sorry and angry for him in equal measure but that's the life of a keeper they make a mistake and usually end up as a goal

Pros. Some of our new additions are looking quality. Ramazani for me is a standout player!! He can hit the back of the net plus we needed another goal scoring threat like Gnonto.
Pros. Sunderland are possibly one of our main threats for promotion this season, but once again we have shown that we could probably beat most other opponents in this league especially if this is still an early team coming together. :fire:

Cons. Should and could have won all 3 points - unlucky an error cost us. I stand behind melier he's a good keeper at this level and is for the team it's obvious.
