It's getting to the point where he works hard and that is it.

His pass selection is poor, he's bullied off the ball a lot and his creativity is pretty non existent and goal threat minimal.

As a box to box midfielder it's passable but as a 10 in the role normally reserved for X factor players he is found lacking massively for me.
Speculation here, but think he might be a player we notice more when they are out of the starting lineup and things are firing less. Trust me, I’m no Aaronson homer. He’s been a pleasant surprise to me as I was in the camp that had written him off.

I think he's a little erratic or frantic. That can be good and bad. When he does something good it looks great. When he loses the ball it looks awful. I think he just needs to be a bit calmer at times.

He would be on the fringes of my 6 / but not given the placing any thought beyond Gnonto’s masterclass. What a player that lad is becoming.
I didn't think he had a good game.

I’ll give Firpo an honourable mention for the goal but his defending and positional play was atrocious so no top 6.

No Rodon mate, easily our best defender by a country mile.

Pascal was tidy, but was relatively quiet.

Aaronson... what did he do to make your list Joe?
15 nice pieces of play, his game was also littered with mistakes, 9 in all.

All the same, a bit more composure from Brenden would help his game.

Apart from a couple of important blocks, one tackle & a defensive header, Pascal had a quiet game.

Rodon far more proactive.

I thought about revisiting my Bogle rating after I saw your stats, Didn't realize the number of giveaways.

But I definitely docked Rodon a point for that senseless yellow. There was cover behind him. He didn't need to do it. But it was impulsive and rash. He missed the tackle so he threw out an arm. I thought he had a decent game though. I actually think he could be a top premier league defender. But there just seems to be that bit of rashness about him at times.

Apart from the yelllow card & where every defender was ball watching for Sunderland's first goal, Rodon is back to his best.

6 good forward passes
4 blocks
4 defensive headers
2 tackles
2 interceptions
2 defensive clearances

Only two negatives.

Nearly three times as much of decent pieces of play than Pascal Struijk.

As I said, our best defender by a country mile.

Our MOTM Gnonto had 22 positive actions compared to 20 from Rodon who made fewer errors than Willy.

Everyone will see different things when watching a game Leon and not everyone has time to watch replays & count good plays or bad plays. I rated Struijk ahead of Joe because of his positional play, distribution & the covering he does of Firpo ( like herding bees ) He always looks in control & unflustered whereas Joe looks like a bull in a china shop & always one rash challenge away from a red card or conceding a penalty.
I definitely think he’s getting back to his best and love his attitude especially the celebration when we cleared a late corner, it’s all subjective though.

In all honesty, the whole team had a lot more about them on Friday, I thought Aaronson was as busy as anyone, constantly making a menace of himself, Struijk is back and showed his calmness and composure.
Tbf, Meslier could have been in the top 6 (error apart)
I thought that was our best performance of the season thus far.
Even DF didn't do his normal shitty subs on the hour mark, we had a game plan and mostly stuck to it and deserved a win.
