Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 11th October) Kouyaté hotly tipped to join Whites

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Friday 11th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Kouyaté hotly tipped to join Whites

Leeds are being hotly tipped with former West Ham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté. The soon to be 35 year old (December) is a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest in the Summer, and could therefore join the Whites outside of the regulated transfer windows. During his illustrious 17 year career, the Senegalese International has played almost 500 league games, as well as 97 caps for his Country.

There has been an increasing demand for Daniel Farke to dip into the free agent market, after losing influential midfield duo Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev to long term knee injuries. Whilst AO Tanaka and Joe Rothwell are proving valuable stand-ins, Kouyate would add both strength in depth, extra quality and of-course experience. He can play as a defensive midfielder, or centre-back.

Joseph hattrick for Spain youngsters

Mateo Joseph netted a first half hattrick for Spain U21's, running out 4-3 victors over Kazakhstan last night. The 20yo was enjoying his first ever start for Santi Sanchez's side, instantly repaying him in kind with goals in the 15th, 23rd and 44th minute. He was a constant thread to the Kazakhstani defence during his hour long stint, showcasing his predatory instincts in and around the six yard box, where incidentally all his goals came from.

Kouyaté looks a good addition should he come, a DMF that can drop into a back 3 when required should fit our system better and allow the wing backs more freedom

Huge fan of Mateo's, pleased for him hope that gives him a confidence boost.

A short term deal for Kouyaté could prove very useful indeed and suit both parties.

Very pleased for Joseph. He had his poorest game for us in the last one he started but overall he has done very well so far this season.
The fact that Piroe scored against Sunderland probably means Mateo will on the bench against Sheff Utd.

If for any reason we fail to get promoted this season, the big clubs in Spain will be falling over one another to take him off our hands.

Great boost for Mateo to get his hat trick, Piroe had his best game for a long time v Sunderland but Mateo has been playing well but just not having the luck in front of goal. Close call who’ll play v SU but Joel slight favourite imho.
Kouyate could be a good addition to the team with Amps & Gruev injured & a couple of players close to a booking, worth a punt if he’s fit.

Great night for Mateo im sure he was bursting with pride. Try telling him he cant go play for Spain because we have a game coming up
This will do his confidence a lot of good ( not that i think he doesnt have any ). He is still a young kid learning his trade and is going to go through periods of games were he misses chances, doesnt play as well as he can. So after a few games for us when he maybe should have scored this hat trick wont do him any harm whats so ever.
Even though JP scored in the last game i would still start Joesph and make that change if and when we need to.

Kouyate would be a great short-term stopgap and could prove quite valuable at the Championship level, even at his advanced age.

Would be very happy to see him signed.

After one goal in the league and a few goals against a Kazakhstan youth team? I doubt it

I would also be happy if we signed him, will bring much needed experience and as has been mentioned, can play in a couple of positions
