Interesting to see if pep follows through with his promise of playing his second team in the next round, now they have been drawn away at Tottenham.

His 2nd string would walk into our 1st team, thats the total absurdity of it.
Will spurs put a full team out, maybe not.

I've been saying that for years mc....see my above postmentalcase wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 7:46 pm This cup ought to be banned to the PL teams imho, the top sides constantly ridicule it and the FA cup by playing "weaker" sides, weaker to European sides maybe, not us.
When this cup no longer offers a euro spot, how many top clubs will want to be anywhere near it !!
Too much football and nonsenicle cups for my liking.

Pep's 2nd team would see Leeds win the championship in a canter.

Southampton into the quarter-finals after beating Stoke City 3-2
Brentford also through winning 5-4 on penalties vs Sheff Wed.

Two really competitive games tonight and a shame that in both instances the PL team prevailed as neither of them really deserved it.

Premier League clubs should not be partaking in the EFL cup! It's a bug bare of mine
They chose to break away.....so should not be included.

I agree swannie, good job both Leeds Utd and I don't get too excited about that tin pot competition.

Re: FA Cup/EFL Cup
Can see your logic but what would be the point of us entering a competition where we are the best team ?
No fun in being Man City.
I'm joking by the way and actually it would be good for EFL clubs to have their own knockout competition which includes all 72 members.
Why not call it the EFL Trophy.
This serious by the way as Championship clubs are not involved in Europe and could definitely do with the extra revenue.

Re: FA Cup/EFL Cup
Winners would need entry into one of the lesser European tournaments, because otherwise it's something like the The Anglo/Italian or DAF trophies...Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:44 am Can see your logic but what would be the point of us entering a competition where we are the best team ?

It's a great idea but flawed because the PL greedy boys won't get a slice of the pie.Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:44 am Can see your logic but what would be the point of us entering a competition where we are the best team ?

It would make sense though, maybe winner gets a place in the equally crappy europa league along with moan utd etc.

Would probably attract the same attendance and viewership as the Johnstone Paints Northern Division competition …. Or whatever it’s calledJammy 07 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:44 am Can see your logic but what would be the point of us entering a competition where we are the best team ?
