Re: Lest we forget
Our daughter who’s a nurse had to get one of her palliative patients dressed in his uniform with all his medals so his family could take him to his local Remembrance service for a last wish. She was in tears, he managed to sneak in to the pub for a wee brandy before going back to the ward though.

Re: Lest we forget
A Diversity and Inclusion Manager at the Royal British Legion earns an average of £45,749 per year, with a range of £30,845 to £67,854.
Here are some other salaries at the Royal British Legion:
Human Resources Business Partner: £41,218 per year
Employee Relations Manager: £33,645 per year
Learning and Development Specialist: £44,981 per year
Team Leader: £22,000–£36,000
Campaign Manager: £35,000–£38,000
Programme Manager: £45,000–£52,000
Grants Officer: £25,000–£30,000
You can bet that King Charles and William take a slice off the top too.
And there is only one poppy, it is the red one and it is inclusive of all faiths, races, colours and creeds that fought for our freedom.
Diversity doesn't help or support our homeless veterans though, they never have even in WW1 the promises turned to lies, wounded soldiers were treated like pariahs left to beg on the streets.
I have a relative/s that were Bradford pals both killed in France, I spent some time researching their stories and managed to get one name on the Commonwealth graves list and into a book, I don't know why he wasn't on it already.
16th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own)
Killed in the Battle of the Somme, 1st July 1916, within the first hour.
Thiepval Memorial. Aged 19.
(marked X on the hotograph below)
2nd/7th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own)
Killed 27th March 1918 and is on the Arras memorial.
Lovely to see people on here leaving tributes and poems.

Nice touch. Some big salaries there for a charity. I got the figure of £80k from a radio show which i now know was incorrect. I mean who is not included in the heat of the battle... Barmy. Don't get me going on King Charlie. What sort of King rents land to the MOD that protects him. That's one area i do disagree with Centre Right parties. I am not a Royalist personally. I see that they may have some benefit in the Commonwealth, no doubt an exploitative one, just expensive outdated nonsense these days for me.BradWhite wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 2:00 pm A Diversity and Inclusion Manager at the Royal British Legion earns an average of £45,749 per year, with a range of £30,845 to £67,854.

We may not be told accurate figures mate, mine could be quoting a starting salary without bonus add ons, who knows? but whatever the salary it is unnecessary and it takes away finances from the cause like most big charities do, so I am careful who I donate to.Leeds1000 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 3:29 pm Nice touch. I do feel strong about ex veterans being ignored while we pay for more and more hotels for others, almost another 1000 last week to look after and this is not going to stop under this shambolic Labour government.
All this woke nonsense has to stop and let's get back to common sense and get our priorities back in order.
Charles and William's estate makes millions from lots of charities and public services such as the NHS and state schools. They have earned significant amounts through rent and other charges, despite enjoying tax exemptions themselves.
I am anti royal specially when the public have to pay for their weddings and funerals while they have a colossal
net worth of billions. They do bring in revenue but it is debatable whether they benefit the economy.

I have been telling any worried pensioners to find the nearest nearest Migrant Hotel and share in the free round the clock heating that they will have helped pay for over the last 50years.BradWhite wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 5:47 pm We may not be told accurate figures mate, mine could be quoting a starting salary without bonus add ons, who knows? but whatever the salary it is unnecessary and it takes away finances from the cause like most big charities do, so I am careful who I donate to.

They will then be arrested as far right thugs stealing the warmth from poor poor freeloaders and sent to prison.

Not even funny, simply true

Re: Lest we forget
They'll probably get arrested as far right trouble causers mate, there is no middle ground anymore or common sense with this far left government.
The hotels here that were converted into hostels for these illegal unidentified males were converted back to public business use not that long ago at a huge cost, they have now been reconverted back to migrant accommodation once again at the tax payers expense because the back log and the amount picked up by the RNLI is so high that the home office have stopped all freedom of information requests because they do not want the public to know the truth in numbers, the cost and scale of this problem which looks like there is no end in sight.
And... because our health services are so overstretched, this rudderless government are now offering them PRIVATE healthcare entitlement, something denied for many because it is expensive, lots of people were having to go private because the NHS waiting lists are too long, so anyone waiting for private treatment are going to get appointments cancelled and added delays in the private sector - It's insane!
This government will never ever smash these gangs without a deterrent, it's impossible and they know it, the way forward is to remove the demand and the pull factor that is so attractive to just about anyone, this goes way beyond genuine asylum seekers and even the real ones will miss out.
The Government website clearly states what they are entitled to on arrival, this is basically an advert.
