Leeds head to Ewood Park on Saturday lunchtime hoping to create distance (temporarily at-least) between themselves and the Championship chasing pack.

The game was initially due to kick-off at 3pm, but was moved to 1.30pm on Police advice. Rovers have always been generous with their away allocation, with 7,500 Whites fans expected to travel. Risk of depleting Ale supplies in Lancashire are thought to be a contributing factor.

Leeds only new injury worry is Sam Byram, who underwent tests yesterday to assess an ankle injury he sustained during the team’s 3-0 home victory against Luton Town on Wednesday evening. Fortunately, Junior Firpo is back from suspension, and with 30 minutes under his belt, Max Wober is well on his way to full fitness.





Largie Ramazzani is on the mend too, after the ankle injury sustained in the 2-1 win over Watford last month. The 23yo made a late appearance midweek, and will no doubt be eased back into action gradually, after five weeks out.

Dan James could be recalled to the starting line-up after scoring late-on against the Hatters, though that would mean dropping Wilfred Gnonto. Similarly Joel Piroe's seventh of the season should guarantee his place in the starting XI. Tanaka and Rothwell will continue to deputise for Gruev and Ampadu.

John Eustace is likely to field the same starting XI that beat Boro at the Riverside on Wednesday evening. Injuries to Scott Wharton, Hayden Carter, Arnor Sigurdsson, and top goal scorer Andreas Weimann (5 goals) leave Eustace with limited options.

Firpo in for Byram, and James in for Gnonto. Those are the only two changes I would make.

Byram was never going to start this game - 3 starts in a week. So the injury is not much of an issue. There may have been a thought that Farke could have benched Firpo for an extra game, like he did to Rodon last year. But, when asked about it, his criticism was more on the panel that made the decision.

Hopefully Byram is not serious and back pretty quick. He'll no doubt be needed to cover again soon and he's a great option off the bench.

At the start of the week, the plan would probably have been to start Joseph in one of the 3. Piroe played so well on Wednesday that ihe may start all 3.

This is big test away at Blackburn. John Eustace is a good manager and will set up to park the bus and hit us on the break. I expect a close game as long as Firpo stays on the pitch as returning means he could be a bit over the top in his challenges. All things to go well Leeds to snatch a goal and come away with the 3 points

At Elland Road we come out of the traps flying whereas away from home we seem to prefer a more measured approach. For me this sets the wrong tone as it's the opposition that benefit because whilst we are slowly passing it across the back they are nicely settling into the match and thinking maybe these aren't so great after all.

3 points and back on top of the league will do nicely. But in games like this i would settle for any sort of scrappy win, this wont be an easy game.....unless the players step up and do their jobs well. Its down to them to once again show we are the best team in this league, if they put in another good performance then we should come out on top without too many worries.
If we have too many players going through the motions then we will be in for a tough time.
