The reality is that these players are certainly good enough in this league, but a fair few will not be able to step up. That's why I thought the comparison was a little harsh, there's no Mo Salahs in our squad. If only!
It has been said before that apart from technical ability ( which to a degree is learned behavior) a huge difference in PL Players to the rest of the League is the abilty ofplayers to think quickly. Those split second choices make all the difference in the top flight.

Speed of thought, Ian, absolutely, it's crucial at the highest level. And you can't teach it!

Amazingly we had that speed of thought under Bielsa. We showed it in the championship and in the first season in the PL. We scared teams with our rapid transitions.

It shows that a lot of it can be trained with game plans and developed. I was watching Arteta (in the Arsenal documentary) do class room exercises with his team to memorize where everyone was at on the pitch. That meant players could think quickly and instinctively in the moment. So much of that frightening speed doesn't come down to ability. Just thorough training.

News today that Newcastle will have to sell in January

I'd be furious if I was a Newcastle fan. Selling out to the richest owners in the world and they can't spend. I know PSR. And the rules are stricter now than they were before Newcastle got all that money. But Chelsea have managed to spend. And are looking much better than Newcastle now.

Makes you wonder if Nick Hammond went about their recruitment in the right way. Maybe should have just spent all their money on under 23's and started from there.

IF we do go up it WILL be a relegation battle, and if we survive that then probably season 2 as well. Leicester are the best equipped team to go up in years having had only 1 championship season in what? 10 years plus? Even they're struggling.

Spend heavily, it's still difficult. Look at how many players Forest signed. Spent so heavily that they were dinged points for it. And spent a couple of years fighting relegation.

Also, Leicester didn't have the burden of losing all their Premier League stars when they were relegated, unlike the turmoil Leeds endured.

Players and agents want that pesky relegation get out, especially if we want that half wages on relegation thing. The previous administration heavily criticized (wrongly imo) for that.

Forest went the bulk route figuring to find a team that can survive, so lots of used quality players. We went the quality route, yes Raphinha, Rodrigo, Koch etc were quality players. Missed on one or two arguably and we took way to long to play Rodrigo as CF but it was a good tactic but one I'm not sure is repeatable...

Don't recall Burnley, SU or Luton adding Raphinha/Rodrigo like quality, don't think any of last seasons promoted teams have either

Looks a bad accident going from that photo.

West Ham have confirmed striker Michail Antonio has been involved in a road traffic accident.

A club statement read: “West Ham United can confirm striker Michail Antonio has today been involved in a road traffic accident.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the Club are with Michail, his family and friends at this time.

“The Club will issue an update in due course.”

If Nuno is asked to play possession based attacking football in the Premier League like he did in the Championship without better players than everyone else he's stuffed.

But he's very decent at this defensive counter stuff in the Prem.
