Wober may get a run in the starting 11 now. Will be interesting to see how he gets on, a useful option to fill in at LB with Sam and Junior requiring treatment. He was steady today, scored a good goal, a decent cameo.
Rothwell delivered some great corners, despite the conditions. It is his ability to vary the type of delivery that makes him a huge upgrade on what we have had previously. If you have a set piece taker who can deliver a ball which pretty much replicates what occurs on the training ground then there is going to be a higher chance of scoring.
The near post corner for Striujk to head on, which we were unlucky not to score from illustrates that the drills on the training ground are working. You can work on set-pieces every day and all week. If the initial delivery is not good enough then it all unravels.
Wober really impressed me today. It was said that he could play LB and DMC when we signed him a couple of Januarys ago. But I hadn't seen him do it. He did look mobile when he first played for us. But I didn't realize he had as much mobility as he showed today. And Farke kind of said he didn't in the prematch presser too. But played well as an almost entirely attacking wing back today. And he threw in a nice defensive sliding tackle too.
I do hope that means he's all in for the season. He's far too goo good for the championship and will be a key member of the squad if we can keep him. Extra credit to his professionalism these last couple of weeks. He could have been stroppy over not playing. He could have been narky about what the fans have been saying - especially the boos last time he came on. But he's put his down and got on with things.

A lot of chat on certain streams suggesting Amps will struggle to get back in the starting 11. I will place money that he starts as soon as he is ready. How Farke accomodates his return will be interesting. Rothwell and his set piece responsibility will not be easy to dispense with. That then leaves Tanaka or BA.
He will probably suggest it is a good problem to have, but not an easy decision to make. I would presume there will be more rotation as we are seeing with the wingers.
Ampadu gets back into this team immediately once he's fit. But I'm guessing he's a little ways off still else we might have seen a few minutes today.
It's a tough call though. Would have said Rothwell prior to today but he was fantastic. Aaronson played well too. And it may be a toss up between those two as the 10.

There was a never a doubt that he is a good player, it is whether he can fit into DF’s system. Too early to say for me. He got forward a lot as a LB during the WC playing for Austria so he has attacking instincts, but it is understanding the positional instructions that Farke requires. I suspect there is a lot detail for each transitional element of the game.

Its a very good position for the manager to be in having to choose between players for certain spots especially when they are all doing their bit for the team. Very tough decision for him though and equally tough on the player that gets left out. Once fit Amps starts and its then 2 from 3. Would personally go with Amps, Tanaka and Rothwell.

It is rather telling how there are distinctly fewer comments on a match thread when we win. It leaves little or no opportunity to suggest how Farke got it wrong, have the ‘pile on’ blame Mes frenzy, or quote some often meaningless statistics about how the attacks were lopsided and how many cul-de-sacs there are on the pitch.
It is all fine margins with our performances, get the early goal, which make’s the opposition venture out of their half and the game tends to be far easier in the majority of matches.

Hopefully Sam is back soon as Wober does not have the best injury record. Perhaps he just needs games - Solomon appears to be putting a run of games together and is starting to look sharper every week. I thought he was decent today, he would have been in my top 6.

I wonder though do these teams put 11 behind the ball or is it that we are so good at smothering them and stopping them from being able to put any passes together that they simply cannot take the game to us. We have seen it often where teams go behind but still seem to be unwilling, or unable, to attack more.

Soloman was good today, he rarely gave the ball away.
