Re: Isaac Schmidt
Just reiterates the idea that Farke doesn't trust him defensively. Always brings him on to close out in midfield or on the wings.
He may end up playing full back out of necessity though

He is likely not yet 100% fit. Perhaps he'd rather risk Wober than Schmidt??

Farke watches Schmidt in training every day, he'll know Isaac's strengths & weaknesses, more so than the good people on here.

Without knowing any details regarding injuries etc it's still concerning that we've paid £5M for a player who at age 25 should be featuring on a more regular basis.
In other words have we signed someone not up to the standard Farke requires ? Hopefully not and we see more of Isaac in the second half of the season.

Re: Isaac Schmidt
Then why buy him?
DF and the club have made a big fuss about how much say Farke has.
He runs the show.
So why spend a lot of money on someone not to use them

We dont know the whole story, maybe we have spent money badly on this player ? It can and does happen at times. But thats just me saying something without knowing the facts. Its very easy to criticise anyone or anything.
If Farke doesnt think he is ready to play his part fully then thats up to him. IF Schmidt is good enough he WILL get his chance, but for now we just have to wait and see.

Get his chance !!!!!!! DF does not rate him, there has been a number of opportunities for him to be brought on or even to start but how many mins has he played since joining. Looks like a waste of moneyGreennWhite wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 11:28 am We dont know the whole story, maybe we have spent money badly on this player ? It can and does happen at times. Re: Isaac Schmidt
We don't really know who wanted him and don't forget that we have recently made changes to our recruitment department. It may be for all we know that Farke didn't want him but the deal was done and now the person responsible has been pushed aside somewhat. We saw with Bielsa and Orta that supposedly some players were signed that Bielsa didn't really want.
Who knows though. We saw with Gruev that Farke signed him and apart from the Stoke outing didn't really play him for a while. Who knows whether Tanaka or Rothwell would have featured much if not for the injuries to Ampadu and Gruev. Similarly Gully hasn't had much of a look in apart from almost token minutes when the game is won. We also saw with Conor Roberts last year that Farke wasn't prepared to throw him in straightaway.
We also saw with Rasmus Kristiansen that a player can look good in another league but then not really be suited to playing in the same role in England. Maybe we have just made an error and no point compounding it by then playing him.
Only time will tell.

Re: Isaac Schmidt
Deary deary me, the eagerness to take a swipe at the manager is baffling on here.
How about Piroe? Because it seems he is a little slow on the uptake let's say, it has taken our manager nigh on 2 years to teach him when he wants him to close down, when to make runs, when not to make runs, how to involve himself with the 3 behind, how to interconnect with others around him, how to watch runs others are making, how to read the play, when to drop back and help, how to find space, in fact the list is endless, and now and only now is he starting to look like a 'team' member, or team player if you prefer.
Like i said, some players grasp the managers plans far far quicker than the rest, some are just plain stupid, others will just never get there, others just end up not good enough, he has persevered and persevered with some players, others he has let go. You only have to take one good look at Schmidt on You tube to see he's an individual player that likes to do things on his own, taking people on etc. Rocket science it is not, The Championship is a step up from his previous, he could get caught out more than Rutter chanced it, and he was losing it further up the field.
Let's just say like the manager hasn't yet given up on some, that he hasn't given up on Schmidt, but is working on him and he doesn't feel he's right yet

Yes I'm sure those 18 months with Farke and his extensive career as a striker in the German 5th division have been invaluable to Piroe.Stonecoldwhite wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 12:41 pm Deary deary me, the eagerness to take a swipe at the manager is baffling on here.

If only he had had that before instead of having to make do with Roy Maakay, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Luc Nilis.
Farke has played him in his best position and helped him get fitter, nothing else.

Re: Isaac Schmidt
Schmidt will get his opportunity to shine soon, I'm guessing he'll start vs Harrogate.
I personally don't like Amapadu as a right-back, our inspirational captain is not in the game enough playing as a full-back, but I can fully understand why Farke played him there after the fitness issues with Bogle & Byram.
Some players take time to fit in at a new club, not every signing is an instant success.
We only paid £2.5m for Isaac, he could turn out to be a bargain in the future!

Perhaps that price tag has been a burden to him.

Agree on both counts 64. Amps way more influential in midfield.1964white wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 1:57 pm Schmidt will get his opportunity to shine soon, I'm guessing he'll start vs Harrogate.

People here are using Schmidt to (again) Farke-bash.
He had hernia issues pretty recently - easy does it with that injury

So....he 'played him in his best position and helped him get fitter'...... isn't that what the coach is supposed to do for an experienced player?????Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 12:59 pm Yes I'm sure those 18 months with Farke and his extensive career as a striker in the German 5th division have been invaluable to Piroe.

Re: Isaac Schmidt
All these reasons above from you and Mr1964 make more sense than just a backhanded swipe at the manager and the player.
Why can't we just look forward to seeing him and others against Harrogate.
I also think i remember Jurgen Klopp was a very average player like Farke that didn't make the grade at a higher level, players sometimes have the brains but not the skill factor to put it into practice, and vice versa. Klopp didn't do so bad in management if i remember correctly.
Schmidt, Isaac
