I'm frustrated he's not playing tbf but odds are its related to hernia rehab..... Looked good in his cameo so don't think its that farke doesn't rate him. Think he'll be a better player than Firpo by miles watching his Europe escapades.... Especially defensively. Built like a bull. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 1:00 am and secondly, no one, not even the manager, will know how good a player is till he actually plays a few games... Buy, him, play him, find out he's s**t then fair enough.

Re: Isaac Schmidt
he didn't play before he got the hernia injury. if he wasn't fit enough to play now because of the hernia injury he wouldn't be training 5 days a week and in the match squad. you can ease players in slowly with 30 mins here and there, but 5 mins a game probably is worse for his hernia recovery than anything.ElKapitan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 1:02 am He's had a hernia issue/operation..... Same type of injury that Rutter took a long while to get fit from. Its one of those injuries that will just ping back to stage one if not properly recovered from. Add to that getting him back to fitness after rehab..... Match sharpness etc why risk him when Byram is top notch at this level.
rutter started every game straight after his hernia surgery (10 days in fact). he started every game last season in the league after the first two of the season. players return after 10 days now from hernia surgery - it's pretty routine thing these days
so the hernia argument makes no sense

Agreed I don't think it's the hernia injury, he'll be fine now and he wouldn't be on the bench if there were complications.

Re: Isaac Schmidt
He had just joined the club.... No player joins and then instantly starts. Ramazani didn't etc. Add to that Firpo/Byram being very decent at this level wouldn't have expected him to. For me he was bought as a long term replacement/competition for Byram/Firpo with their injury issues.danhirons wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:53 am he didn't play before he got the hernia injury. if he wasn't fit enough to play now because of the hernia injury he wouldn't be training 5 days a week and in the match squad. you can ease players in slowly with 30 mins here and there, but 5 mins a game probably is worse for his hernia recovery than anything.

Rutter drastically dropped off in form after coming back and Farke said that he brought him back out of necessity and that he wasn't fully fit.
Hernia injury is complicated and isn't just straightforward and depends largely on what type of hernia injury it is. We don't know so can't say either way but highly doubt Farke would have wanted him if he had no intention of playing him once up to speed. Looked good in his cameo I thought?

Re: Isaac Schmidt
Bought as a full back. But obviously Farke doesn't trust him defensively as he's only ever used him as a lat6e sub in midfield or on the wing. Maybe there's work to be done defensively on the training ground. And hopefully it leads to Schmidt being of use to us at full back. But clearly Farke doesn't like the idea yet, not even for a couple of minutes at the end of a game.

I don't see why we bought him. Unfair to the player IMO...

I'd have to agree and 5 Mill is a wedge to pay in this division. At the very least he should be first up if a wing back isn't fit or gets injured. But he seems to be behindVictor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 8:43 pm I don't see why we bought him. Unfair to the player IMO...
Bogle
Firpo
Byram
Wober
Ampadu
and I bet Struijk would be next up.... We left our best wing back on the bench last season too, Roberts
Maybe we've bought Schmidt for the prem

Re: Isaac Schmidt
I thought Bob Marley was fine in his first start for Leeds, seems to have stirred it up with some of our fans then.
At least Darlow wasn't flapping at crosses & did enough to earn his place vs Millwall or Dagenham.

Re: Isaac Schmidt
Not that I am any sort of expert on these things but it is clear to me that the way Farke wants his teams to play, in relation to full backs is that they can bomb forward and bugger their defensive duties. Indeed, it matters not that the LB and the RB can't defend for toffee! Just look at Firpo and Bogle. Wober since he's been drafted in the last couple of games hilariously has played as attacking WB. We haven't really seen enough of Schmidt but perhaps he falls down on his passing although that aspect seems OK to me.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 5:54 pm Bought as a full back. Seems to me it is a 50/50 whether he stays or goes. If he gets a decent offer he might well be on his bike - especially if he thinks he's not convinced Daniel Farke enough

Re: Isaac Schmidt
Wonder why the officials are lying to him. He didn't even replace a suspended Bogle, that was a great chance to integrate him

Farke obviously, placed his trust in the reliable Byram. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 4:25 pm Wonder why the officials are lying to him. He didn't even replace a suspended Bogle, that was a great chance to integrate him

Byram is a solid mid championship full back, very limited ceiling.

The same will apply to quite a few of our squad.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 4:14 pm I just forget about him to be honest, doubt he’ll be staying if we go up.
Our current team is nowhere near good enough to hold their own in the Premier League, the fringe players will certainly be moved on.
