pjm2019 wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 10:54 am I guess i am one of the "negative posts" i believe i am being realistic. I do like to read posts that we are too good for Burnley tonight and really hope we get 3 points to night as this would REALLY give us a very nice gap between the chasing teams

It is very obvious that there is a certain dynamic that takes place on the match day thread. Get a win and it goes very quiet, it is as though we don't know how to celebrate... nothing to get excited about... but look at the response when we loose or draw, Melier out, sack Farke, substitutions at the wrong time, poor defence, toothless attack... and the forum becomes a negative echo chamber, each vindictive comment trumped by another even more wild... and this we call debate.

Frank Zappa once said " Musical journalists interview musicians who can hardly talk and write articles for an audience that can barely read"

Or from a biblical perspective: I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is futility and striving after the wind.

As Bielsa said, football is about entertaining, and I would add not about facts.

You can chose to live in a box, soothed by the opinions of others that confirm your own, sheltered, and finding comfort in facts and figures, or "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, And treat those two impostors just the same" then you can celebrate victories, and laugh at defeats... which is what I try to do.

I had no idea.
That does explain a lot about your posts and I don't mean that in a derogatory way.

Ferguson could be our future up top. Absolutely get him in.

As for the game, I personally would not really settle for a point today. Of course, context matters and that could change as the match plays out, but going into it I think DF will be going for the three points.

Last year though I've always known. I just think/act differently to most. I don't want to post my particular flavour of autism as it's not flattering.

I loved Bielsa and he was a great manager but I was still posting that he should start Roofe or Nketiah when Paddy was of form (more often than not) or tactical issues. There's pleasure in that for me...

See for me a forum is for debate, for contrary opinions and intelligent analysis. I've no interest in a Stepford Wives, sing along website (that's more a local facebook group mentality than a forum)
Great post

Yes because "normal" would have to be on any scale

I used to teach Psychology and had to convince the youngsters we are all on the various spectrums
e.g. OCD, depression, etc.
And to question what is normal?
There are significant differences in rates of diagnoses for Schizophrenia and manic depression between UK and USA psychiatrists.

When IQ tests were first designed, there were official classifications of 'moron' and 'cretin' if you had low scores!

Leeds are the sort of team that smash records (I use the trem records loose3ly) when the odds are against them. in Europe around 2000, we were beating teams away 4 and 5 nil (teams that hadn't lost at home for like 20 games). If we turn up tonight, we can win. I predict a 1-0 win for us but we have to be on it for 90 minutes...

That Brighton chap seems like a future star: has to be a better option than Bamford/Mateo. Bamford used to relish games like this so I wouldn't be surprised if he featured tonight...

I remember being given an IQ test when I was in high school and being told I had achieved a very high score.

My response: "So you're saying I'm smart enough to understand these tests are bulls***."
