Oh ffs
Proper plodder him.
Suppose as a Premier League Rothwell it's OK, an experienced OK type.

I wouldn't under-estimate Longstaff, Cjay.
A type of signing we require!
Experienced, clocking up 170+ appearances in the Premier League.
Newcastle fans rate him, the majority haven't a bad word to say about him.

Thanks.
Not so bad if he's just a squad filler type like Rothwell was.
Does help with the home grown rule as well though.

One of their own
Like the scouser they love that.
He's OK, do a job type occasionally.
But he's 27 with only 1 truly decent season.
A decent squad edition I suppose, another one.

Never liked Longstaff, hopefully it's rubbish. 10M about 8M more than he's worth.

He won't be coming as a bench warmer I wouldn't think.

What has he done wrong as a footballer to dislike him. I could never understand what your issue was with Rothwell. Give the fella a chance, we need to come 17th. Experienced prem players should not be sniffed at given our current status. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:03 pm Never liked Longstaff, hopefully it's rubbish. 10M about 8M more than he's worth.
If we are signing two midfielders as appears to be the case it does not look good for Gruev, whose place in the squad might be under jeopardy.

One of those players that I just hate watching. took a dislike to him when we were last in the prem.DDB220 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:29 pm What has he done wrong as a footballer to dislike him. I always hated him playing against us, effective if not spectacular. That’s maybe what we’ll need this season. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:55 pm One of those players that I just hate watching. took a dislike to him when we were last in the prem.

Re: 2025 Summer Transfer gossip and squad discussion (and manager)
Longstaff seems like another sensible type signing. £10m for a player with decent premier league experience. It may be unspectacular but it is a proven premier league player. For all we rate AO he is unproven. For all we rate Ampadu we have not seen him play for us in the prem. If we'd bolstered the Bielsa side with these type of signings we'd have got through the injury crisis and been okay.
It's an upgrade on what we had but without costing a fortune. I haven't seen much of him but remember him getting rave reviews after breaking into the Newcastle side. If it gives us the option to sell Gruev then it could be a good thing for the FFP sh*te as we should make a profit on Gruev and can spread (ammortise) the money spent on new signings.
So far our signings (and potential signings) appear very sensible. Not splashing huge amounts on a few players but bolstering the squad with players who look capable rather then being the risk/reward types. It hopefully means a well balanced and competitive squad and we still hopefully have a decent amount left for 1 or 2 big signings.

Am thinking Farke will go hyper defensive and play both him and Amps together. You know how Farke loves two holding mids! Am thinking Stach would relegate Tanaka’s PT more. And Gruev would thus be relegated to a squad player. My two cents…

Longstaff is a cracker for what Farke is working on and with, to only rate this player at £2m i suggest Specsavers.
He would be quite a dream here, and is most definitely one of those late bloomers type of Pro.
We would get 100% out of him match in and match out, he would do so much running that the likes of Aaronson would also start to shine more, along with James, Largie and Gnonto. Quite simply, GET.HIM.IN.
£10m is a complete snip.

Reports in Italy we are pushing for Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić
Nothing else matters atm apart from the fact he is 6ft8 and looks like Kratos
Don't imagine Rodon would dare show any displeasure with this chap

Re: 2025 Summer Transfer gossip and squad discussion (and manager)
Might all come good in the end but still feel it's really weird of a supposedly highly ambitious and professional operation like our owners are apparently to give running our recruitment 1st season back in the Prem to a total novice.
With Hammond gone and Steinsson are very few senior football men at the club.
Some NFL executives and Underwood and Farke I suppose.
Hardly a highly experienced and successful top level pair
And Underwood has been only involved with the first team stuff 2 years and this is his 1st season ever in charge of running the whole show as the Orta type figure
Seems a very strange and risky strategy.
Have to hope they've called this right, Marathe in particular as it seems both calls were his.
Do wonder are others involved in the background? Red Bull's team perhaps?
Not a isn't the club awful post incidentally just something was surprised by.
