That's not a bad thing if we had someone capable of delivering decent crosses and set pieces

You look at some of the managers out of work

Southgate, Postecoglou, Marco Rose, Roger Schmidt.

If we go down, its expected, if we stay up, they are heroes, with a £5m bonus!!!

Upcoming matches have some easier ones than Arsenal and Newcastle (e.g. Burnley, West Ham, Wolves, Fulham). That will be a better reflection of our level.

Last night was a total shambles. I think the players thought they could walk it, and clearly they couldn't and never got going.

To remind of last seasons start: D, L (Cup), D - 2 points / 2 matches - and that was in a league we should be leading. We're currently 1 point better off :)
Great post and yes it just shows how awful we are in the cup usually. And how we could play poorly occasionally in the league too. The rest of the season turned out pretty well. Am sure the usual suspects were clamouring for Farke to be sacked after that start too.

We've looked more than fit enough - it's not as if we're conceding late goals all the time through tiredness. Just a lack of quality on the pitch imo.

We've gone for a summer of "let's strengthen the squad", rather than let's strengthen the first eleven
AC Milan didn't play their strongest team as they saved them for Chelski the next day. Two game isn't enough when we're playing at a higher level.

The performance last night was poor but 9 times out of 10 they would have won by a couple of goals and we wouldn't have had to witness the abysmal penalties we took. Let's see what Saturday brings but I would hope we never resort to Dyche.
The problem as I see it js that if players turn down coming to Leeds since they percieve they might be in for a relegation fight and they don't want to damage their careers or reputations... then what are the chances of a manager coming in and trying to manage a team that Farke has assembled.

Certainly Jose did not seem to relish that challenge... give a dog a bad name and it sticks

We can't afford to go down, as we will likely fail ffp and the EFL will be rubbing their hands with glee at the record points deduction they can hand out. Any signings will have release clauses too, which means we'd be forced into selling Harry Gray to raise funds.

As bad as it was last night, it's not Farke's fault that DCL missed absolute 2 sitters (The first of which being actually harder to miss than to score)

Poor all over the pitch. But, congratulations to those Owls youngsters on a big night for them.

Onwards to the next game, though I'd take the international break right now if offered...

Sean Dyche

2015 season - Burnley's spell in the top flight lasted only a single season, as they were relegated with two games to spare.

On 15 April 2022, Dyche was dismissed by Burnley after being with the club for nine and a half years. At the time of his dismissal, the club was in the relegation zone, four points behind Everton with eight games remaining.

On 9 January 2025, Dyche was dismissed by Everton – precisely three hours before an FA Cup third round home tie with Peterborough United – following a run of poor results. By the time of his sacking, Everton were only one point above the relegation zone, having only won three of their last nineteen games in the 2024–25 season

But one you're entitled to

I just hope it stays - As your thought.
A terrible thought is getting beat 5-0 every week and breaking the points record and then getting a record points deduction for failing ffp in the Championship :poo:

To be fair I thought Bijol looked pretty decent and even though it won't be popular I thought Harrison did reasonably well . In a couple of weeks time we will probably all be grateful that there's no distractions from the hard graft of amassing enough points to get above the bottom three . It may be that it hurts some people more because it was Wednesday but I feel their fans deserved some kind of a boost at a difficult time and really it's no skin off our nose . In the two seasons as our manager DF managed us to a total of 190 points and I for one think that has earned him a reasonable chance at getting this season right and nothing that has happened in the last two games is sufficient to change my mind on that.

Saw enough evidence last season watching Southampton. Incidentally by a manager who got the better of Farke 3/3.

Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:14 am Empty stadium!!! it was a perfect scenario to play Patrick Bamford.

Done over by a bunch of babyfaced assassins, what stories they will be able to tell their grandkids... you won't believe me , bottom of the league we were, and the gaffer fields most of the youth academy. Leeds put out most of their new signings, and they are thinking "what the" last week we're caught in the headlights at Arsenal and froze, and now we are playing in an empty stadium, going from the highs to the lows... what have I let myself in for, I didn't sign up for this, this is bad, I should have stayed on the continent, at least the food and weather was better... Joseph and Ramazani are well out of it, they're the lucky ones.

We were living rent free in their heads... keeper played a stormer, and that really rubbed it in. You could see the Leeds players thinking wish he was our goalie, all we've got is three duffers

And so it was when it came to the penalty shoot out it was a foregone conclusion, they missed all three, and we scored four... our Barry leading the way.

Best day in my life, will stay in my memory forever.
Like all granddads, you’re exaggerating - you didn’t need to score 4 penalties, 3 was enough.

The penalties were quite funny though Weasel, i actually felt every single one of our players missing as they walked up believe it or not, especially after Piroe missed his..

I thought :

Piroe - "He's missing this, it feels like he knows it too"
Then DCL - I thought "this isn't going in, i can just feel it because it's supposed to be a cert"
Then Longstaff - I thought "he shouldn't be on this, he's trying to make up for being off it all night, looks nervous"

Bang Bang Bang - Rows Z, F and P

Panic and over reaction again. Mainly from the usual suspects!

I'm convinced we will put up a decent performance on saturday.

Let's wait and see.

DCL missed NO sitters! He missed one difficult chance.

The other two were just well defended.

OK I can't defend the awful penalty.

He wasn't fully match fit but still got into good dangerous positions. I can see him scoring against Newcastle, if he starts.

That's what's known as a POSITIVE take on the situation. Some of you should try it sometime :)

I'll start to worry after a few more games. 8-)

You're panicking too much pal, your drawers are round your ankles way too early :poo:

Btw i forgot to mention but maybe you already have - Piroe isn't the answer at 10, terrible.

That's exactly right
And a perfect example if someone wants to 'over-exaggerate....they could pathetically go to town over something as stupid as that.

The chance came flying at him and caught his shin before any time to adjust - On a different day when it's lucky the other way - It flies in the net, simple as that.

Some won't believe or have it - But there were positives to take from that game, but they've got the scoreline to throw in your face all day long. The same goes for the Arsenal game.

Whilst he's clearly a more successful manager than DF couldn't bare watching the style.

If the time came to sack Farke I'd hope they would have more ambition and imagination than the most obvious appointment possible

I think/feel i saw enough to start him v Newcastle, you'll definitely get half a game out of him flat out if not longer, then introduce Piroe.
