Well said. Like you said DCL only really missed one the others were the type you get in this type of performance where they just fall slightly out of reach etc. Penalty was woeful.whiteinfrance wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 11:22 am Panic and over reaction again. Mainly from the usual suspects!![]()
I'm convinced we will put up a decent performance on saturday.
Let's wait and see.
DCL missed NO sitters! He missed one difficult chance.
The other two were just well defended.
OK I can't defend the awful penalty.
He wasn't fully match fit but still got into good dangerous positions. I can see him scoring against Newcastle, if he starts.
That's what's known as a POSITIVE take on the situation. Some of you should try it sometime![]()
I'll start to worry after a few more games.![]()

I know.
Piroe has been our top scorer for the last two seasons & I appreciate his output, but I do think he is a touch overrated.
Bench player at best in the PL imo!

Thought Bijol just looked a bit rusty, nothing more than that. Harrison was steady enough—he’s never going to win us a game on his own (cue the match winner vs. Toons), but think his versatility and experience still gives Farke cover across a couple of spots.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 12:43 pm I thought Bijol had a really awkward game. But I'm not going to judge him on his first start
Harrison was my pick yesterday. Thought he was one of the few, probably the only one that seemed up for it. He adds some useful versatility to the squad. Will probably spend most of the season on the bench, But his ability to play a couple of positions does make him useful.
TBF Willie was the only real spark. In just over half an hour he chipped in with an assist, two key passes, four crosses (two accurate), and created two big chances. Add in 93% passing and 4/6 ground duels won, and he was the only one capable of changing the tempo.

Many on here will encourage you toweasel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 3:35 pm Strangely enough I didn't fancy any of our penalty takers to score either. It was just that sort of night and as shown by my pre-match Positives and Negatives comment I wasn't at all shocked by the performance or result. It is what we do and have been doing for many years.
I also correctly guessed which way all the Sheff Wed penalties were going, Am taking my gloves down to ER on Saturday and might just get a game in goal for us again.

That prompted many posts about Carrick being the new football league Messiah. That suggestion soon withered on the vine. I will only start panicking if we do not pick up points every other game or so and go on a bad run of defeats in the league.
DCL will score goals, as a few have mentioned he is good at getting himself in the right position in the 6 yard box. We have missed that from our 9. I am not concerned about Piroe, he may struggle this season in games as he adjusts to playing at this level. Plenty of players have needed a period of adjustment and come good.

I was with you and White Lotus. Having watched Ethan Horvath playing for the USMNT, I knew he has a knack for saving penalties. So I was already mentally prepared for us to lose once the match reached full time.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 3:35 pm Strangely enough I didn't fancy any of our penalty takers to score either. I don't mean just the pens either, he was quick to smother, quick off his line, and read situations well, pulled off a few good saves.

Piroe could be very very handy from the bench in tight games with 15-20mins to go v the likes of Brentford, West Ham etc just hambling into the last 20mins unnoticed against tired legs, him along with someone speedy like DJ as well.DDB220 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 4:20 pm That prompted many posts about Carrick being the new football league Messiah. No one wants Dyche
No one is calling for Farke to be sacked.... When that happens we'll get polls

He's a slightly better than average Championship level keeper in my opinion. He is NOT a Premier League level keeper. Except for making saves in penalty shootouts. He excels at that!White Lotus wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 5:27 pm Looks a cracking prospect on first evidence last night, can he catch?
