They added players and improved significantly on the previous season then he added more and as you say a few full backs and improved again.

But they never had a goal issue or a creativity one , I think it was the other end actually, and then again adding defenders makes sense in that regard as well and as you say for the overall system.

We on the other hand struggled for creativity from the 10 role and in central areas all last season, and based on this season and pre season we are struggling even worse now.

And I do get the point about full backs and the Farke system etc and if it were a first choice right back to improve on Bogle for example I'd say OK fair enough as improving the first 11 is important

But a backup one? Not for me other priorities if money really was an issue.

As I say I don't believe it was the case of us choosing to buy a fullback or a 10. I think we had the money if the right player became available. JJ may be an improvement on Bogle, I don't know, but at this time Bogle has the shirt and it is his to lose. It might be that JJ is more of a threat to GG. Bogle has proven to be an excellent buy and I think it likely takes more than £10m to get better than him (short of some really good scouting). For me having another full back was a must. I rate Byram but there was no way we could go into the season with him as our only back-up for both sides. We saw the difference, from an attacking view, when he was in the side instead of Firpo and if Bogle or GG had have got injured then we could have been relying on Byram being able to play every match for a sustained period. Not buying a full back would have been a huge risk.

I get that we could have kept Schmidt and not signed JJ but we saw in the friendlies why Farke doesn't rate Schmidt, or see him as a good fit in his system. Ideally we'd have sold Schmidt but it does seem noone wants to buy our rejects.

Seems a bizarre attack on you. Seems Cjay doesn't like you responding to his posts but surely that is the idea of a forum - perhaps Cjay needs to instead write in a journal and show it to no one. With Cjay being one of the more prolific writers on here it is just the law of probability that you will respond to more of his posts than someone who say writes 10 posts per week.

Plus with the provocative nature of CJay's posts he is wanting the attention, wanting outraged people to respond. As such who is mor elikely to respond - someone outraged who will then argue or someone who agrees but then doesn't feel the need to add anything as Cjay will have covered what they were about to say.

It is the nature of football management that you always want to try to improve on what you have. Liverpool won the league but have still splashed the cash to improve.

There should be goals amongst those 8 mentioned. Possibly the case that most are inconsistent and apart from Piroe none are particularly clinical. Just a case now that Farke has to manage with what he has and to be fair to him he has done pretty well so far in terms of gelling teams together and making misshaped pieces fit into his jigsaw. I have confidence in him to bring the best out of these attacking players.

Like you I would have liked Ramazani to stay as I think he is capable of scoring goals out of nothing and offers us something different. However if Farke feels he doesn't fit into the team ethos then he had to get rid of him. We all saw him enjoying the partying and maybe that is his personality and that might rub off against more disclipline pros such as Rodon and Ampadu. It could be a similar scenario to how Cantona didn't fit in with the hard working Wilko side but fitted better into the MU side where he was idolised by the young players such as Giggs and Sharpe.

Ampadu didn't look very disciplined on the bus though did he?

Certainly didn't and that looked a classic example of someone who probably hardly touches a drop of alcohol normally, is a 'model pro' and then once the final whistle on the final game went allowed himself to party. It was nice to see, albeit a bit cringeworthy!

Totally agree. The Everton game is likely to be our blueprint for success. Try to take the game to the opposition and hopefully blow them away. If it doesn't happen though we remain resolute at the back and hope to create enough chances that we eventually score. Worth noting that our penalty against Everton was not a result of a foul but a decent shot on target - people may think Pickford would have saved the shot but who knows as he would have been a bit unsighted by Tarkowski and if it had deflected off Tarkowski it might well have gone in.
