I can see it both ways Dave, and if we go out I won’t be crying into my beer, neither will I be opening the champagne if we make the next round.
However, with 6 Premier League teams already out, and another 2 guaranteed to go this round, I can see why DF would go for it this weekend.

That's the reason I hope we really give it a good go. If we win we're into the last 16 and a reasonable chance of not getting a prem side. Even if we do get a prem side nothing to fear from most of them.
Ridiculous that a club our size hasn't even come close to the semis since 1987.

We should field a reasonably strong side and try to WIN this Cup tie. We've got some injuries so there will be changes, but we've got plenty of talent to compete at this level. For example, one of the best Championship strikers has been sitting on our bench all year. I would give Piroe the start in this match. I would also get Gnonto and James on the pitch as well.

Anything can happen in the cup games, but even weakened Top 6 sides will still be very strong, but agreed let’s give it a go and see what happens

Bar a lack of match sharpness is no reason a weakened side shouldn't beat Birmingham given most of them have been a Championship winning side.
